Neat idea. What kind of range does it have? How do you keep the air hot enough to provide sufficient lift? Finding a way to power a pump to refill a tank might be tricky though.

Maybe someone could hack an RV furnace that uses propane, into a rig with the thermostat controller for control of the flame... and then you could use propane bottles that might be an easier find when scavenging... Those 20 lb tanks are pretty common. Hmmmm... Sort of a Mad Max/Waterworld thing... maybe hack a propane genset for the motor and affix a pulley/belt system for a propeller... but, the wiring of the motor would be toast, so... scratch that... hmmmm.... pedals! Hack a bicycle and a pedal powered propeller.

we are only talking 7 days right..
but lets say people take advantage.
and society crumbles.. I'm going with horses... I have a whole shop full of camping gear... I can hunt and fish.
I can build a cabin if need be... generators.. battery tools... I know how to siphon gas... and the border isn't fenced between Canada an the US... I'm sure the Border Patrol are going to abandon their post...
.. it will take me a month to get to her.. perhaps longer... but I will get there....

i think the pilot of this vessel would be able to supply an endless amount
of fuel to power the hot air balloon for, like jeez almost forever....

Well, if society were to end, we'd all have plenty of time to tinker with stuff, it's not like we'd all get up and go to work. :laughing:

Personally, I'm gonna crack a cold beer (while they're still cold) and pull my lawn chair in the shade to watch the chaos. Society only exists because we all agree to it's laws (and the consequences of breaking them), but reality shows that we're really only 15 minutes from anarchy, anywhere. It seems to just erupt, but only regionally, for now.

Never underestimate the stupidity of people in large groups, especially if they panic.

They might STAMPEDE!!! :laughing:

You'd have to boat across Lake Superior or Erie. I don't know. Border patrols. Pretty risky. Obama has outlawed basically with Executive orders, that individual states may not have their own Guard. Only National Guards. Federal. Fook...hopefully none of our military will follow the azz. Not saying what the Mounties will do?? They will be corraling vagrants into FEMA camps...

Yes, plenty of time to tinker around. There's plans for converting backwards to steam engines and wood from gas too.
