Do you ever while talking to someone ask them a question and they give the "everyone does this" answer instead of personally answering the question?
While responding to a post here,I've noticed that I tend to do it especially when responding to someone else's post,TO that post, but still answer it later on in the post lol,but face to face,no,or I just give you both! drinker

But it was only that one time and I didn't inhale.

My problem with that particular answer if that I wonder if said person ever thinks for themselves and speaks from their own brain.

I understand what you mean and I agree it can be very annoying IF the person has no personal interests or never initiates the conversation and when all they do...is some up with generalities.

However...in my defense....maybe give them the benefit of doubt....(or not)

In my case it simply is a question of time sometimes..or..it's a way of avoiding the question halfway politely...

It can also simply be a way of showing you a mirror...

It's not really about initiating anything. It's just follow through of the conversation. And it's not hard unless they literally can't think for themselves and have to give the generic answer. I realize once in a while if you don't want to answer then that's when people say it. Why don't you just say: "I'd rather not answer."? Don't know why it's so hard for some people to do.

Not really. It's more of a cop out than politely and honestly saying that you don't want to answer it.

Not true. Can't speak for the entire human species personality and values. The only thing that we all have in common is that we're all humans and alive. Personality is unique and not everyone was made to think, act, believe the same as everyone else.
