true love is hard to come across nowadays.
"True love" is hard to come across today because people are too busy polarizing areas of their life.
"This area is for education and work. Logic, and reason. Stay out dating and relationships! tee hee."
"This area is for feeling. No thought should go in here, just my emotional biases and how I was trained as a kid sitting in front of the t.v. and movies, come on in dating and relationships, you get cookies!"
"True love" is hard to come by because people keep using their subjective idealizations of what they think love should be as the definition of "true love."
You can either believe in the natural process, where love evolves from sex for the purpose of creating stable relationships in order to provide safety for kids, or you can believe love is the food pellet reward for choosing the "one" right person in the maze of interpersonal relationships.
If you believe in the latter, you will always be searching for it.
Every time you get it, it's only going to last for a little while, before you are dissatisfied and have to try again.
The more and longer you go through the maze searching it means the more you have crossed off as not being able to give you the food pellet, reducing the number of those that can until it's nigh impossible to find.
If you think The Princess Bride is real and possible, you're looking for the pellet, only deluding yourself that it's more than it is.
