Obama: 'I Could Win' Third Term In White House

President Obama thinks he 'could win' a third term in the White House if term limits didn't bar him from running in 2016.

“I actually think I’m pretty good president,” he said today in a speech before the African Union in Ethiopia. “I think if I ran, I could win. But I can’t.”

Even though he's confident in his re-election abilities, Obama said he's more interested in life after the presidency.

“I'll be honest with you, I'm looking forward to life after being president. I won't have such a big security detail all the time,” he said. “It means I can go take a walk, I can spend time with my family, I can find other ways to serve, I can visit Africa more often “

The president’s comments came as he explained he does “not understand” why some leaders are insistent they remain in power when their term limit ends.

“The point is I don't understand why people want to stay so long. Especially when they've got a lot of money,” he said. “When a leader tries to change the rules in the middle of the game just to stay in office, it risks instability and strife, as we've seen in Burundi.

Earlier this month, Burundi's President Pierre Nkurunziza won a controversial third term, which opponents called unconstitutional.

As he advocated for term limits, Obama said, “old people think in old ways,” before making a joke about his own aging.

“You can see my gray hair, I’m getting old,” he said to laughter.

If he ran, he could win... But, he can't.

Remember...
He voted for it, before he voted against it. BEFORE he was even elected to the senate.

Hey!
Obonzo could run for the office of president... in Ethiopia.
There's his third term.

I don't know. His "Gay Agenda" wasn't accepted very well in Africa.

A "good pres" at least listens to the people before he screws them. Obozo just screws them then praises himself on CNN.

His desire to leave the WH is because he gets to screw the people out of their money to pay for his retirement without even pretending to do any work.

I'm sure he'll enjoy his $6M home on Maui we bought for him, his security we'll pay for, and all the other wonderful benefits of the office much more after his term is up.

He'll get it all no matter what people think of him and enjoy the comforts of immunity from prosecution as well....as wild Willie Clinton, Jr Bush, Sr Bush and Cheney do

Presidential candidate Donald Trump begs to differ with President Barack Obama’s assessment that if he ran for a third term, he could win it.

Obama made the prediction, in a light-hearted fashion, while addressing the African Congress on Tuesday:

I have to also say that Africa’s democratic progress is also at risk when leaders refuse to step aside when their terms end…I am in my second term… I love my work. But under our Constitution, I cannot run again… I actually think I’m a pretty good President — I think if I ran I could win.

Trump has an entirely different view of Obama’s chances, telling Greta Van Susteran on Tuesday: “I think he would fail miserably if he ran again. I would beat him so easily. Obama would get creamed if he ran again.”

The billionaire candidate indicated that he would “love” to run against Obama. “People are tired of these politicians,” Trump added. “We need energy, we need enthusiasm, and we need a much tougher tone.”

He also stated his belief that, if he becomes the Republican nominee, Hillary Clinton may well not be his opponent. “When you get rid of hard drives, when you get rid of all these thousands and thousands of emails…Remember this General Petraeus, they destroyed his life for doing much less than she did,” Trump said.

In his address before the African Congress, Obama pointed out that “there’s a lot that I’d like to do to keep America moving [if I could serve a third term], but the law is the law. And no one person is above the law. Not even the President,” which drew applause from the assembly’s delegates.

Many would argue that President Obama’s respect for the law has been wanting on numerous occasions since taking office, starting with his refusal to uphold the Defense of Marriage Act, and continuing through multiple unilateral changes to the Affordable Care Act, and on to his implementation of executive amnesty, part of which is currently blocked by the federal courts.

As reported by Western Journalism, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, released a report last year identifying 76 lawless acts by the Chief Executive since he took office in 2009.

Respected legal scholar Jonathan Turley testified before Congress that the president has taken the United States to a constitutional crisis by his executive power grabs.
