Texas health officials sent a letter to Planned Parenthood affiliates saying the clinics were potentially "liable, directly or by affiliation, for a series of serious Medicaid program violations" highlighted in the videos.

Republican Gov. Greg Abbott ordered an investigation after the footage, which Congress also is investigating, was released by an anti-abortion group that alleges Planned Parenthood illegally sold fetal tissue for profit.

Planned Parenthood blasted the decision, noting that thousands of women seek non-abortion health care services through Medicaid at its clinics statewide. The organization also has denied allegations levied by the Center for Medical Progress, saying the videos were deceptively edited.

Abbott, Texas' former attorney general, praised health officials for the decision. In a statement Monday, the governor said ending the organization's participating in the joint state-federal Medicaid program "is another step in providing greater access to safe health care for women while protecting our most vulnerable the unborn."

The videos were released, starting in mid-July, by anti-abortion activists who posed as representatives of a biomedical firm. They sought to negotiate the purchase of fetal organs from some Planned Parenthood personnel. Planned Parenthood has denied seeking any payments beyond legally permitted reimbursement of costs.

though I am pro life, I wonder how big a part of planned parenthood services that is compared to all the other healthcare that women get there,,,not to mention assistance with birth control BEFORE it escalates into the 'welfare' types of assistance people love to gripe about,,,

I think they still get federal money, so they still can do something, just not abortions.

if I remember correctly, its a lot easier to get in to Planned parenthood than it is to get in to see a doctor


and low income women are often on Medicaid,, which is no longer going to cover those services, according to the article,,,

I am NOT entirely happy about it.
It is infuriating, that any American woman should go without or make it harder to get ' women's health care'.
However.... Morality aside , this is about Planned Parenthood consciously & intentionally
BREAKING THE LAW for ILLEGAL PROFITS.

The Fact check point ...is deceiving, because ALMOST ALL abortions performed in The United States are done by Planned Parenthood. So in this case 3% of their business being abortions means NOTHING. It is their MONEY MAKER.

Planned Parenthood did this to themselves & to all the poor women who can not afford a REAL doctor, or even drive to one.
Which is why their are so many clinics in or near poor neighborhoods & most of their clients & the abortions are done on black women.

Isn't it ironic that an organization has the named 'Planned Parenthood'? Maybe if they taught more of what their name implies, abortions wouldnt even be needed in the first place.

Many of the patients have Medicaid and not many doctors accept Medicaid.

Also, some people don't have insurance because they're "too rich" for Medicaid" and "too poor" for Obamacare - esp. in the states that didn't expand their Medicaid. PP uses a sliding fee scale for those folks.

everyone is supposed to have obarrycare, it's the law, remember? you get fined if you don't...
