I never get people that get lonely during the holidays.
It means you are not happy the other 363 days of the year either. So why con yourself into believing it's only the holidays?
Work on getting happy 365 days a year and you won't be bothered by it anymore.

Happiness is found within, not without.
You can have happier Christmases on your own than with someone you don't really resonate with, you know.
You can feel much much lonelier in a relationship than you feel on your own.

I really think it's such a shame that people feel miserable during the holidays, just because it's the holidays.
Why flick that switch at midnight from feeling your normal self to feeling a miserable git?
Like I said, if you are truly happy, it wouldn't matter one bit. Not one bit at all!


Sorry but no one said they were not happy people. There is a difference between being happy and being lonely. I am very happy most of the time. I like my own company. I do not know how this went from being lonely to being unhappy, unhealthy people. What did I miss?

I hope you are referring to me. Still can't figure this out lol. Lonely and unhappy are two different feelings with two different names and two different meanings.

When every I get down or lonely I try to remember all the things that are good in my life.Health, job,new truck, house, man there are people out there who really have nothing,who are laying in alleys, hospital beds, or worse.Then I usually snap out of it and feel selfish.I always schedule myself to work those days so the people who have families can be together. Volunteer for something to help others that will put you in the spirit.

Thank you Tbone! Very well put. You're so right...Christmas reminds me of all the Christmas pasts that can never be again. After losing a lot of family members, I'm just not feeling the holidays anymore and I would be just as happy if the holidays came only once every ten years. Plus the winter blues due to not getting enough sunlight makes it worse. Thank you.

This will be the 3rd Thanksgiving in a row I that I will not be home (do to work), and Thanksgiving means nothing where I am, but I will talk to the family and I know they miss me a lot, that makes it a bit easier and they will set a plate for me as well ;).I will go out to a restaurant and have a nice meal..make the best of it. And I will make sure this is the last Thanksgiving I miss.

I'm lonely to with my macaroni and cheese watching tv. I live in the small town Friday Harbor on San Juan Island NW Washington State. I like this convenient town, I don't drive but I get island fever a lot, and just want to get off.

The holidays are such a boring time for me. None special to spend it with. I try to steer away from the parties and things. I just become at couch potato during those times.

I'm not a fan of xmas holidays... Every year for the last 4 years have been dumb, I've been dump by my ex, sat by myself xmas and new years one year, cheated on by my ex another year and then left by my ex and cheated on again sooo yes I'm a dumb nut for going back there but he's my kids dad and I do/did love him and so I tried again... so this time, xmas has to change and more laughs and games with my kids. I might be emotionally lonely but i'll rather be lonely than hurt again!:smile: :smile:

Promises, promises, promises and you can bet he will go somewhere on your tickets but I sure bet the only thing the sender will get is a memory of disappointment that will return year after year. NEVER SEND MONEY, TICKETS, OR GIFTS to anyone you do not know in person.
