Jada Pinkett Smith, Spike Lee to boycott Oscars ceremony...

I am trying to fix a whoops... I thought Will was up for the Oscar for Martin Luther King jr. and I just went off on that ... lol
but it was for his movie about the danger of football ... but Jada thinks the black actors are being left out of the so call white Oscars ... now I like both of their acting ... but to boycott just seems
unreasonable...I would not take a attitude just becouse my husband did not get nominated or other black actors ... and they should be happy to know ...they have came out with a more protective helmet for football games ... pretty awseome engineering ... where they should not get concussions anymore ... and guess someone came up with the black actors own ceremony for their awards show... this **** happens in Music to ... look if someone has like more of one song or movie they should get awarded what ever color they are ... I can understand what the people behind the Oscars are doing ... and that's their choice ... think they own the show ... so if people have a problem then don't go ... to either the black or white awards show ... but come on people love Jada and Wills movies ... but they do not have to always be expected to get a nomination ... I feel like this kinda like they never have enough to go into the Hall of fame ... only a selected few get it each yr ... when some of these great people should get it but there is just not enough rm ... same with the Oscars ... now lets wait for it ... Who cares

I understood the Oscars are owned by the movie studios as a group. The actor's contract clearly list the marketing and participation they must do. The Oscars are a part of that list. Going to the Oscars is a part of their "job", unless there is a contract problem. Publicly they can complain and put the blame on what they want. But the bottom line has to do with the contract.
* Oh! the Oscars are soooo much fun! (for the public and marketing) This is a part of the work that actor's do. This is work.Just my view as I do some (StarNow Jobs and Auditions).

** I don't understand the skin pigment comments.

I agree people love them ... but to say lets boycott them becouse blacks are not getting nominated is silly ... and its good to see someone win who has not won before ...when they have a good movie attraction ... and if u want to get huffy about it ... they give Oscars to blacks that their movies where not even that great ... but believe did it becouse of ... so whats the gripe now ... personalty seeing s spouse come out since her husband did not get reorganized
for his work is just not the time to be having this kind of discussion ... if coming out for others that would make more since at this time ... I could understand it better ... know what I mean ...

So do these boycotters think that, in todays PC world, that HOLLYWOOD....THE mecca of weirdness, social justice rants, tree huggers, and basically anything liberal....sat around one day and said, "Fellas, this year, no blacks at the Oscars. All in favor, say aye....AYE!!!"?

Hell, maybe the whole thing is a ploy involving the boycotters AND the Oscars....it HAS gotten some publicity.

and not one White Actor was nominated at the BET-Awards,I cry foul!

It must be so great to be black! You can protest and get attention for almost anything in life!
I feel discriminated ... What can white actors do when they feel they are being left out? NOTHING!!

If coloured people would stop feeling superior, racism could finally become a thing of the past.
That kind of discriminating behaviour is so getting up my nose!

Hello all I love you all and greatly enjoy all the forums I know it is way-way off subject. But? let me show my thoughts,


Some cultures communicate strangely that I find funny. They say there Inclusive but are actually Exclusive. It is like the women's club and the men's club are both Inclusive but they are Exclusive to the sex. Just strange as they are not truly 100% Inclusive, only 50%.

* Governments will help minorities. (what is a minority, hard to identify ) . Exclusive language.
* Governments helping a cultural group. (easy to identify). Inclusive language.



-If I’m born of mixed parents and my brother has a different skin pigment, are we not the same. We start with the same culture, but this may change as we grow.
-My doctor may have a darker skin pigment does this make him part of, what culture group.
-This Black, white or colour thing is strange? Do you buy a magazine as it relates to your culture or based on skin tints. I can understand being excluded by a cultural group because of my lack of understanding or knowledge, but skin tint (black/white/other) I just do not understand!

** A strange mind set, can spread. At school my kids are introduced to “Black history month”. This promotes very Exclusive thinking based on skin tints. I can understand a Cultural month and a Repression month. Sometimes I notice this Exclusive thinking spreading as a divisive tool to promote hatred.

I had given a detailed description of a criminal to law enforcement. Later they (police) came back to me and gave me pure hell for not identifying the persons colour. huh!

It's hard to take any of these awards shows seriously, especially the Oscars after reading the book The Men Who Would Be King: An Almost Epic Tale of Moguls, Movies, and a Company Called DreamWorks , and what Kevin Smith went through when trying to get the Oscars to consider Michael Parks for a nomination (and the ridiculous amount of money that would have to be paid just for them to even consider Parks)

I don't understand how they pick the winners anyway, I mean people see movies in different ways.If I was a actor and felt I was not nominated and was mad I would giggle my azz off on the way home to my mansion and millions of dollars knowing I don't have to get up and really go to work in the morning. You can't have it all. Those award shows are meaningless, Its all about what kinda dress they are wearing or about what candidate they are backing for the election. Its hard to feel sorry for millionaires.

so if not even one was nominated how is it possible that Sam Smith, Robin Thicke, Justin Timberlake, and Iggy Azalea have one BET awards?

I admire her choice to not be supportive of an industry that isn't being supportive

if white actors feel they are being left out,, they can WAKE UP,,lol

as the majority , they have plenty of representation and work and acknowledgment

racism has little to do with BLACK people feeling superior, its about the majority being willing to recognize that being minority doesn't make you inherently INFERIOR or unworthy of the things they can take for granted,,,
