Wonderful city, been there many times (stayed at Casa
Carolina which belongs to a friend) and wandered the
streets and harbor areas..the last time I was there though
(mmm 1980 or so) the Mexican police were out in full
force as Carlos'n Charlies had just been robbed so that
was a wee scary seeing all those guns.

I'm pretty sure it is different, right now is more of a touristic place than before and that is why there are more police officers on the streets, less insecurity, if you come once again I'm pretty sure you will love it

Oh I will always love PV, spent my honeymoon there in'75.
The people are so nice, they even seemed happy :-)

Is it safe there now?

It is, if you stay in the touristic place, like downtown and the main streets you'll be fine, if you get to come soon I could be a guide
