Am I the only one that doesn't bother looking at other peoples profiles if they haven't put effort into showing anything about themselves? I've met one guy on here who didn't do it and he seemed pretty cool, but I was really reluctant to talk to them because they never touched their profile information.

Am I the only one uncertain about approaching these kinds of people?

just this evening i received a mail from a profile which has no photo at all, no info about himself, and "no answer" to each Physical Appearance question. i didnt reply, still he kept sending mails again and again.
i eventually replied to him saying that he is so disrespectful mailing others with such an empty profile and asked him to keep away!
his reply was "what is wrong with my profile?"slaphead

You are very right Cat
"clueless" is the very correct word for them.
they are trying to swim in a sea they do not know
but instead of drowning themselves, they are drowning us :(((

those ones are not any appreciated either.
so what shall we do? as there are the other ones lying about their profiles, shall we say "oh u are very welcome, i was just waiting for a non-info profile to waste my time!" ??
i dont get what your point is in writing that comment. :/

the point is that profiles and pics means very little until we meet up... just because i can type i'm an lion-taming astronaut means nothing until you actually can see that i'm a checker at walmart...

from the written info, st,ll you can get some idea. without themselves noticing, they can give some conflicted information, and we can get it if we are lucky.

ie. from some certain phrases, i can get what possible countries that person is from.. even if the data is not true, still i catch an idea about the way the person is, or at least he is "maybe".. or definitely not worth talking to.

no information is totally cheating right at the beginning.

if u are careful enough, the info at the profile page will tell you a lot to start with.
i have never failed with that.
no info, not a sentence written by the profile owner..
makes me say "what are you hiding?!!"
definitely keep away !

i just think profiles are a way to open a dialog, so in that way you are right... but i put 0% belief that any of it is true...

of course always assume that 0 % is true and protect urself.
both are not apreaciated but none-info ones sound more sneaky to me.

I think it depends on the opening email, I have received some pretty awesome 1st time emails from ppl that had squat on their profile.

I have also has some pretty dismal opening emails from ppl that had lengthy profiles.

So I think a profile or 1st email is nothing more than an opening to start a conversation.

if you see someone and like their picture... send them an email...
if they're interested in you they will reply...
next thing you know, you're on the phone planning to meet up...

I haven't written my life history on my info blurb, and I'm not sure if it would do that much good to get into excessive detail.

In my opinion,a few simple facts are good enough to at least open a conversation. There is Nothing quite like the human voice for covering a lot of ground. Hearing some of my tales might burn off both of your ears, but I'm not going to try to be another Hemingway or Faulkner trying to put my stories into words....At least not here on an internet dating site.....

It is better to have several photos in your profile and a written brief outline of yourself helps, but most people are first attracted by appearance in my opinion. If they do not like your photos they are unlikely to respond no matter how much you have said about yourself, so I can understand why many don't bother with written details. Maintaining privacy will also influence some, but I agree that at least basic profile information should be included.

first impressions really matter however way we put it. if your profile cannot be understood there wont be enough patient people who would ask what you really mean about it and they will just move on to someone they could relate to
