hello all, im new to the site. but it seems like im getting messages left and right by "fake" people. im wondering if posting through the forum is a better option..? has anyone had success meeting new people strictly through the forum?

The fakes and scammers have even made it on to the forums & they do post here at times until they caught & deactivate or something

the best thing to do is to remain vigilant at all times.

Yes, absolutely, I've made some of the all time best friends through forums like this. You very much CAN use forums as a filtering device.

However, like all filtering devices, your results will be very limited. Most people on any dating site, don't even look at the forums, and even fewer participate. That has nothing to do with how desirable or how good or honest they are. So yeah, you can use forum reading to look for people who post often enough that you can get a sense of what they are about, and then pursue them. Just realize that you aren't likely to find a LOT of possible people that way.

So far, I've made a number of good friends this way, but so far, none of them live less than a thousand miles away.
