sometimes I can be up or down ...
I struggle with my emotions everyday ...

I have a bit of PTSD from things I have seen in the past...
and has happened to me... never leaves my mind like I would like it to ...
my anger is a associated with my bipolar ...
don't want it but have it ...
some days I do not care ... and some days I do ...
so many I have known died from overdoes...
and wonder was it the drugs or did they just want to die ...

hard to tell sometimes ...

manic depression ... anxiety ... headaches...

body spasms that hurt from my chronic arthitics... through out my body ...
from a lot of operations and procedures I have had ... in my past... that did not help ... but get help from professional yourself if u need that ...

I know I am not the only person like this ... **** happens as they say ...

but sometimes I think it might be better ...on the other side ...
but that is my dark monster that lives inside of me ... still will not let go of me ...
or thinking that... bout everyday ...

but I look to other professionals to help with that ...

might as well be honest... have nothing else to loose ...

some say don't date her ... she is pretty broken ...

well some may be right ... personally not looking for a weak man anyway ...

as one has said here today ... gone tomorrow ...

and still hope the other side is good an all I think it could be

High five. I know quite a few on here struggle with mental illness, but are afraid of judgement, so they do not speak up.
The human condition is fragile at times. There is nothing wrong with talking about it.
Anyhow, what do you mean you are a social psychologist and not clinical? What is a social psychologist?

I struggled a bit in my early teens (difficult childhood both my parents had problems) but I reshaped my mind in the white-hot forge of Dhyana and Samadhi and as a result, I'm as sane as required :grinning:.

My hardware functions within normal parameters -though it has often been overwhelmed by life experiences. Works much better when I exercise (endorphins make you feel good for no particular reason), eat right, sleep enough and relax enough -get enough sunshine (vitamin D deficiency can have many adverse effects) -and work to live rather than living to work. Environment, society, body and mind are arr really one system. You can't do much about society, but you can often avoid the unhealthy parts -same with environment. Most of the world is not focused on your well-being. You need to do that.

The best thing I ever did for my software was seek answers to the biggest questions in life -why are we here, why does God allow suffering, etc -and to actively learn how to be a good and healthy human. Ideally, everyone would be taught very well in a stable environment and have excellent examples -but that is not often the case. Basics come naturally -but specifics must be learned and taught. We also can and should self-program. We all have missing information and incorrect information.

Also.... remember that needing time to rest and heal is normal when we experience some things -we don't always have to be super happy energetic producers

How big is your coc@?
When was the last time you cried?
Have you ever considered suicide?
Where you abused as a child?

You have misunderstood Rabbit...:rose:
I can say yes to all your questions, except the phallic symbol.
Suffering builds character, pain sure, but I bet you are very empathetic to people and have a huge heart for the wounded.

Rabbit, Mental illness is more than depression but people tend to think it automatically means depression.

Mental Illness
A wide range of conditions that affect mood, thinking, and behavior.
Most common types

Clinical depression
A mental health disorder characterized by persistently depressed mood or loss of interest in activities, causing significant impairment in daily life.
Anxiety disorder
A mental health disorder characterized by feelings of worry, anxiety, or fear that are strong enough to interfere with one's daily activities
Bipolar disorder
A disorder associated with episodes of mood swings ranging from depressive lows to manic highs.
Dementia
A group of thinking and social symptoms that interferes with daily functioning.
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder
A chronic condition including attention difficulty, hyperactivity, and impulsiveness.
Schizophrenia
A disorder that affects a person's ability to think, feel, and behave clearly.
Obsessive compulsive disorder
Excessive thoughts (obsessions) that lead to repetitive behaviors (compulsions).
Autism
A serious developmental disorder that impairs the ability to communicate and interact.
Post traumatic stress disorder
A disorder in which a person has difficulty recovering after experiencing or witnessing a terrifying event.

Consult a doctor for medical advice

A mental illness can have a physical, mental cause or it can be a lil of both.

I suffered from a sort of clinical depression all my life (from my childhood to my adult years), untreated. A series of life altering events caused PTSD which almost ended me.
Luckily, the VA had really good psychologists and psychiatrists available to get to the bottom of the cause and treat it.
It required my own brutal honesty and truthful feedback from me.

A psychiatrist is a medical doctor (an M.D. or D.O.) who specializes in mental health, including substance use disorders. Psychiatrists are qualified to assess both the mental and physical aspects of psychological problems.
My psychiatrist found my brain was not producing enough of some chemical and put me on a drug that caused my brain to release more of that chemical to put it in balance.
He was a good doctor because he asked for feedback and adjusted/changes drugs to get the "right" result. When I started taking the "right' drug, I could think clearer.

Overall, psychologists assess, diagnose, and treat the psychological problems and the behavioral dysfunctions resulting from, or related to physical and mental health. In addition, they play a major role in the promotion of healthy behavior, preventing diseases and improving patients' quality of life.
After I finished with my psychiatrist he referred me to a psychologist.
She worked with me thru counseling and education so I could change my thinking on a day to day, moment to moment basis. She monitored my feedback about how the drug made me feel and adjusted my dosage accordingly.

Eventually, we found I no longer needed that drug and she weened me off it.
I continued to see her for roughly a year after that then she told me I have everything I need to live a normal life.

I know what causes me to be depressed. I know what to do so I don't fall back into that hole. I no longer feed that insatiable monster.
My life is better than it has ever been, mentally.

Everyone fights their own battles with depression.
Some of us win, some of us lose.
I chose to win but I had help.

May you all find inner peace and contentment.

I know "mental illness' is encompassing a lot. I don't even know what being "well" is. I just was trying to convey my question in a succinct fashion. I too have dipped my toe in a dark pond of madness, after a while I come nose to nose with soft rotten lily pads. But...I do come out from time to time to dry off. It usually does not last long. I just don't want anyone to think I take this lightly, it's no joke, I just wanted to know you all better.
