I'll spend the next six weeks on Madeira, taking care of a friend's house, avoiding a harsh central European winter, and recovering from a knee reconstruction.

I speak English, German, French and Dutch, but no Portuguese.

I don't know anyone on the island, so I'm open to meeting strangers. It would be nice not to be lonely this Christmas. ;-)

Many people in Madeira are british, german and french. Many more can speak at least one of those languages, besides portuguese. Good luck for Christmas.
