Jack Smith asks Supreme Court to keep Trump trial on track (Politico-12/11/23)
Donald Trump is trying to delay his election subversion trial regarding, claiming he has absolute immunity from prosecution for crimes committed in office. So to keep things moving, Special Prosecutor Jack Smith asked the Supreme Court to rule on the matter in an expedited manner, and hours later, the Supreme Court agreed and has formally asked Trump's attorney's to respond to Jack Smith's request for expedited ruling.

It's surprising that SCOTUS can move so quickly on this, but of course Trump wants to delay so that if he gets elected he can simply command his AG to kill the case and dismiss all charges, like the criminal he is.

I hope that is exactly what happens . Jack Smith is a partisan hack. Almost as corrupt as the president or the justice dept. he works for… this trial should never happen unless you want to open the flood gates for charging people for disagreeing with the powers in charge..TDS a common brain disfunction brought on by the fear of uncovering the corruption and thievery that is prevalent among dishonest politicians… and their supporters…

Lol, So, if the court was flipped with democrat leaning judges making up the majority, that would be fair and credible in your mind ? What IS your point?

I haven't seen anything partisan in what Jack Smith is doing. He's prosecuting the cases against Trump where he has evidence and can prove it. If it were partisan, he could probably roll up a few hundred more charges against Trump, like obstruction in the Russia probe and money laundering when Trump made real estate deals to foreigners for cash. I have no problem if all politicians who committed crimes get prosecuted. No more two-tier system of justice where people have to behave in court, but big politicians (like Trump) get to threaten the judge.

If I ever commit a big crime, I'm going to announce my campaign for president so I can't be investigated like a normal civilian.

Lol, investigation or no investigation,, I don’t see you getting any votes . Maybe if you hide in your basement and let the media campaign for you you would have a chance of winning. That’s how Biden does it…

Doesn't matter how many votes I get. Trump's establishing that a political candidate cannot be held accountable for crimes while running because that's "election interference."

I believe the Political Wing of the U.S. owes Trump a apology for the election interference and false allegations leveled at him throughout his time in office… and now the dems act surprised because most people don’t believe he is guilty of any criminal wrongdoing. Lies and deception about Donald Trump 24 hours a day
is the only way they feel they can beat him.. On the other hand about 65% of people believe joe is guilty of bribery or at least is guilty of unethical dealings…

Lol, jack smith loses his case of trying to rush to judgement the Trump trial.. Seems our scotus is sticking to constitutional law that everyone gets due process even though these corrupt democrat prosecutors and lawyers think they should be able to circumnavigate the justice system. Democrats are doing their best to undermine our democracy to eliminate the presidential candidate that most Americans want . And they say Trump will ruin our democracy? .
If the dems think they can beat Trump than do it in the voting booth and quit trying to push your competitor off the ballot. They should Man Up if they think their plan to run our country is better than Trumps and actually campaign for the voters support.

False allegations? No, they have real allegations against Trump. There's no good excuse for having all those classified documents still in his possession.

And Trump isn't really defending this. He says the Presidential Records Act--which doesn't say what he says it does--lets him keep whatever he likes.

Of course, that's just the case in Florida where Trump has a Trump-appointed federal judge. The case in Georgia has about a million times more evidence than what Republicans in Congress used to start an impeachment inquiry against Biden.

Trump is as guilty as can be. The "loss" by Jack Smith was just the SCOTUS declining to decide whether Trump is above the law after a lower court ruled that Trump is NOT above the law--that he can be charged for crimes committed during and after his term in office. The US doesn't owe Trump an apology. He did this to himself.

Sure they owe Trump an apology. But above that they owe the American people an apology for wasting time and money to pursue several trumped up charges against a citizen who has not been convicted of any crime. I think the 2016 election was rigged against Trump. Now if that rigging was enough to have change the out come we will never know for sure but the smell of foul play will stay with the history of that election… The SCOTUS decision is more like them telling Jack Smith that he’s not above the law. He should have gone thru the appellate court first. The SCOTUS should look at jacks smiths request as a ‘ red flag’ as politically motivated..The Georgia case is more of the same … blah, blah , blah.. Trump knew the election was fair?? How do this DA know what Trump knew. After all the lies the DOJ and the media had told about him about Russia, Ukraine, or and all they drug him thru.. why would anybody believe a democrat backed investigation. Many millions think the same.. does that mean all of us are for trashing our democracy. On the other hand if our democracy changes to Biden’s idea of a democracy it should be destroyed..

I can't relate to your notion of what democracy and justice should be. You make no sense. The DOJ has figurative and literal mounds of evidence that Trump is a criminal, and the investigative part is over for the cases lined up for court. Trump's guilty and will be serving prison time. It's just a matter of when and how much at this point. I guess if he delays it long enough with appeals he'll die before serving day one.

so your telling me that the president of the united states does not have the authority to declassify documents. or even look at any documents. that is so stupid.

joe was not even president and he has stuff to, in a garage not locked behind doors.

i mean come on, hope you are not that dumb to see what is going on. yet your going after trump, see how stupid that looks. at the question president vs not a president.

What part of our democracy makes no sense to you? The part about free and fair elections, the part about not turning the justice system into a political wing to destroy a opponent for president. Trump said on day one he was going to clean up the swamp and the democrats took that as ‘ destroying our democracy.. the lefts idea of democracy changes to fit whatever is good for their agenda at that time. Your whole argument makes no sense if you can’t see the wrong doing by Biden when he was a senator and his time as Vice President. While screaming guilty about Trump.. purely biased …

Biden didn't weaponize his DOJ. It's independent. It was Trump that weaponized his Justice Department. We heard all about that when FBI Director James Comey testified to Congress after Trump fired him for appointing Special Council Robert Mueller. Trump later said "If I didn’t fire Comey, they were looking to take down the President..." Biden has stayed out of DOJ operations. Trump's only in trouble because of his criminal acts over the past several years. Trump didn't clean up the swamp. His administration was the swamp, and nobody owes that clown apologies.

And of course I support free and fair elections--not losers calling and threatening state officials to "find" enough votes for them to win. Maybe I'm biased against Trump, but after so many lies and the crummy results, it's warranted. I don't see the left changing to fit their agenda. Got an example?

Lastly, Biden as Senator and VP collected some classified documents over his decades, but not deliberately, and when it was discovered, he promptly turned them in. The difference is that Trump deliberately took those classified documents home, showed them off to friends and directed his staff to hide them from the FBI and ignored requests and subpoenas for them. Trump isn't charged with merely keeping documents at home, or even removing them from the White House when leaving office. He's charged with deliberately mishandling and sharing classified documents, along with lying to the FBI and obstruction. I don't know why you cannot see the difference.

The differance being what? Because the left says joe didn’t deliberately take them, how do you or they know that. It’s because of your hatred for Trump it distorts your definition of fairness. Ask any 10 people and 8 of them will tell you yes, there is a two tiered justice system leveled against Trump and his followers

You're right. I don't know that Biden didn't intentionally take those documents and deliberately stashed them in his university office and garage hidden among various other documents and notes, hoping NARA never came asking for them, and then one of his bumbling attorneys came across his stash, and Biden had to play dumb and pretend he had no idea and directed his attorney to cover it up and notify NARA to arrange returning the docs.

The difference is that Biden didn't have to be asked for the documents. Biden didn't show off his documents to unauthorized people or foreigners and Biden didn't blow off the FBI or NARA and obstruct the investigation into the misplaced documents. Trump did all that. You can Google it.
