I like giving Cash, it works well for those I give to can buy whatever they want to.
People who bye gifts without knowing what the individual would like or needs is a waste of money. Many will not appreciate their gift and may give it away.

every Christmas I re-gift myself sox and underwear I found in the back of my sox and underwear drawer.
Im a reformed regifter or was. I got caught this year. I was short on a gift for my daughter and the gift card my son gave to me I gave to my daughter. All is well now, but I was told he’s not buying me anything anymore. He bought me Swiss Chalet yesterday.

I like the way Toodygirl thinks, and to me it makes sense to give cash as presents, and the person can buy what they need or add more cash and buy things they were saving up for...

I have received beautiful gifts from a stranger but He has excellent taste.
Many Men do not have good taste.

I don't see anything wrong with regifting. It is the same as recycling. You get as much use from something as you can, and possibly pass it on to someone else. That is what the local thrift store is all about.
When my older sister got married it was a landslide
of gifts, most were personalized with their
married initial "M"...we could not understand it,
she simply was not that popular.
Then we found a gift with their full married name,
and it wasn't hers.
Seems the wedding before hers at Church had
had the same initial, M, and they were flooded
with returns.
All sent to the next bride..with the
same initial.
(Follow-up: They divorced after 30 years, he
survived stage 4 colon cancer, went to
a wedding, caught covid, died.)
I do not know what the moral of that story is ;-(
