Golden Earring is the best known and internationally most successful rock band to come out of the Netherlands.
Formed in 1961, Golden Earring has been active for more than 50 years non-stop, which makes them the world's longest surviving rock band, formed a year before The Rolling Stones.
The current line-up has been intact since 1970.



A successful psychedelic album Eight Miles High, which featured an 18-minute version of the title track, itself a cover of the 1966 hit song by The Byrds.
The live version, which could last 45 minutes, was played during their first and second American tours in 1969.

The Grass Roots are an American rock band that charted frequently between 1966 and 1975. The band was originally the creation of Lou Adler and songwriting duo P. F. Sloan and Steve Barri.
In their career, they achieved two gold albums, one gold single and charted singles a total of 21 times.
Among their charting singles, they achieved Top 10 three times, Top 20 three times and Top 40 eight times.
They have sold over twenty million records worldwide.

Paul Vaughn Butterfield (December 17, 1942 – May 4, 1987) was an American blues harmonica player and singer.
After early training as a classical flautist, he developed an interest in blues harmonica.
He explored the blues scene in his native Chicago, where he met Muddy Waters and other blues greats, who provided encouragement and opportunities for him to join in jam sessions.
He soon began performing with fellow blues enthusiasts Nick Gravenites and Elvin Bishop.
In 1963, he formed the Paul Butterfield Blues Band

The group formed in 1960 as The Sunliners and changed its name to Rare Earth in 1968.
After recording an unsuccessful debut album, Dream/Answers, on the Verve label in 1968, the group was signed to Motown in 1969.
The band was one of the first acts signed to a new Motown imprint that would be dedicated to white rock acts.
The record company did not have a name for the new label yet and the band jokingly suggested Motown call the label "Rare Earth".
To the band's surprise, Motown decided to do just that.


Released on September 30, 1969 by Motown Records.

Tom, you are a walking encyclopedia of knowledge. Rare Earth is still one of my favorite groups from that era along with Grand Funk Railroad and The Association.
