Dude, go with the $99 Samsung from Wal-mart. Fairly good resolution with a butt load of features + video. invest $10 in a memory card to boost capacity from 9 pix to 1300 pix. I also dropped $20 on a mini collapsable tripod that is worth its weight in gold once you figure out how to use the timer settings on the camera.

I used to be big into photography. It's a fun hobbie I need to get back into. I've messed around with 3d quite a bit too.

Here's a few I've taken on the Big Island:

Well, think about the features you want. Many cameras now days offer a TON, including video. So write down what you would like - here's some examples to include:

1. video
2. Pre-sets (landscapes, portraits, manual)
3. Jpeg and Raw file format
4. Underwater pictures

etc, etc....Then once you figure out the features, start looking at different ones. Such as Kodak, Nikon, Camera...the Canon Powershots are great cameras as well as the Nikon Coolpix- easy to use and great quality.

My first camera was an older Kodak easy shoot 3.1mp digital camera, my second was a Nikon D50 DSLR and my current one is the Canon Digital Rebel Xti DSLR - at some point i'd love to upgrade to the Canon 5D Mark II. I'm more of a DSLR person. lol

Oh these are great! You should share some more! :) The waterfall really is nice, love the long exposure look and deep colors. Nice composition as well. flowerforyou

Here's one of mine, taken from my flickr account. It was taken just inside Ogden Canyon here in Utah. I call it the Ogden Canyon waterfall..I know it's a weird angle but there was no great angle to get at for this one. Lightroom2 + PhotoshopCS4

I also have a digital rebel. While I'd love to upgrade, it will have to do for now. I'd definitely recommend a canon, though.
