Jimi dies Sept. 18, 1970. I was born Oct. 28 1970 so we never lived in the same realm. My first Hendrix LP was Band of Gypsys. Turns out to be his best (with the exception of Axis: Bold As Love...my favorite). Any Hendrix freaks out there? :tongue:

Side one of Band of Gypsys is the best. "Who Knows" and "Machine Gun". I've played gtr. for over 20 years and still can't imagine doin' what that guy did with a gtr. Amazing! :tongue:

hahaha you have to take a left handed guitar and turn it upside down and play it that way

Funny. One of my gtrs. has a reverse headstock like Jimi's. Surprisingly...it didn't make any difference. :tongue:

Jimi also had Roger Mayer who custom made effects pedals for him like the Octavia, Fuzz Face etc. Not like he really needed any help, but...

I think the only one ever close to him was Stevie Ray

I listen to Jimi's Voodoo Chile and then listen to Stevie Ray's version and Stevie makes it sound more fluid. I think Stevie could have become better even than Hendrix if he had lived long enough

but it seems whoever records that song is doomed

Funny thing is I never really dug Stevie. I prefer Buddy Guy. His version of Red House is AMAZING!

I was a junior in high school when I first heard any of The Jimi Hendrix Experiences music.

My one buddy and I were suppossed to go to Cincinatti in the summer of 1968 to see the monkees. The Jimi Hendrix Experience was the opening act. My buddy had to work and we didn`t get to go. Believe me, we weren`t going to the concert to see the monkees.

This is one of the greatest trivia questions ever: Who was the monkees opening act in 1968? Answer: The Jimi Hendrix Experience.
