How did you choose your Goddess? Or do you even bother specifying a particular archetype?

For the Moon Goddess I've actually choosen three Goddesses. One for the Maiden, one for the Mother, and one for the Crone. I realize that many people just see this trinity as three aspects of the same Goddess and I guess I do too, in a way. But just the same, I feel drawn to giving each of them a unique persona, even if it is created by me via the selective choice of specific Goddesses.

The three Goddesses I've chosen to be my Moon Goddess trinity are Artemis as the Maiden, Hecate as the Mother, and Cerridwen as the Crone. I'm truly drawn to each of these Goddesses specifially within the roles as I have selected them based on their mythological histories. Although Artemis and Hecate are both virgins. I'm not sure if it makes sense having a virgin Goddess as the Mother aspect of the Moon Goddess. I suppose I can imagine that she's only a virgin with respect to mortal men.

I'm just curious how other's choose to view their Moon Goddess(es).

Anything anyone would like to share would be much appreciated.

Hecate pretty much chose me. But, the Virgin Mary was the Goddess who led me to Paganism and my current belief system. So, I have a strong devotion to her. She gently leads me to where I need to go. Whereas Hecate is the source of my energy and power. Hecate, being a triple Goddess, represents the Maiden, Mother and the Crone.

Yes, I've noticed a lot of people use Hecate as the single Goddess who represents all three aspects.

Many use Cerridwen as the triple Goddess as well.

My only reason for wanting to personify the Goddess in a more concrete fashion actually stems from some things I'm learning about thought-forms and how they bring things into reality.

So I'm pretty happy with using Artemis, Hecate, and Cerridwen as three specific 'thought-forms' associated with the Moon Goddess symbol. These specific personas simply fit in well with the rest of my archetype. There are other Goodesses that I've read about as well that I would like also like to set up a communique with. One of them is named Hestia. Of course she doesn't need to be a "Moon Goddess". In fact, many identify her with as a "Hearth" Goddess, or Goddess of the Home.

This is really a fascinating journey into spirituality. This is far more fun than the dogmatic religions that try to dictate precisely how we need to view the spirit world.

This is more like choosing your own friends.

All of this has lead me back to the first lesson in the Outer Temple. I found it to be quite reaffirming when I started to re-read it. Penczak starts out by explaining that he was quite far into his study of witchcraft before he truly began to wrestle with the idea of Gods and Goddesses in more detail.

In fact, like me, he had given up on a previous religion that worshiped a trinity, The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. So he was reluctant to get bogged down in a similar type of dogma. He actually speaks to the issues of thought-forms and I can see now (far more clearly than before) what he is talking about. So it really does pay to jump ahead and learn more advanced concepts then come back later and see how they fit. It make far more sense now.

I think I'm really on the right path for what it is that I am hoping to acheive. I ordered that Initiation into Hermetics book and it promises to go into the concept of 'thought-forms', how to create them, and master them. So I'm hoping that this book holds to its promise. I think I'll be able to tell once I get the book in my hands, which should be fairly soon.

I almost feel like a magi in a movie uncovering long lost secrets. It's a very interesting endeavor.

Once my health is back to normal I plan to delve into this subject of thought forms more. I have made huge progress in this area over the last 5 months, but I still have a lot of work. I've been sick for years so I figure it's going to take me at least one year to get back to perfect health.

I am drawn to multiple Gods and Goddesses, mostly those relating to the animals, and my heritage, though some are multi-cultural as well. Epona, the Celtic Goddess of the Horse, Dog, and Birds is my main one, Posiedon, the Greek God of the Sea, and Horses as well, Mannannan Mac Lir, the Manx God of the Sea. The Rainbow Serpent of the Aborigines becomes the Feathered Serpent of the the Americas, and Ourobouros ties in with them both. Cernunnos as the Lord of the Forest and animals, along with the Lady of the Beasts. They each have more detailed meanings to me specifically, but also a broad overview as well.
