I have been taking the rocks away from some old flower rings hoping I would not get snake bit. Luckily, the only thing I disturbed was this big old momma frog but she just hopped away. In the first rock ring I did encounter a moccasin. I prefer the tire rings as they are easier to deal with. Plus you can aways paint them.

Rocks are plentiful here. I had some fruit trees with rocks around them.

The tires will fill with water and breed mosquitoes. Use rocks.

Rocks! Can get a bit more creative with them (and don'tact as a mosquito hotel). I got plenty of old tires laying around if you want to come take 'em!

I haven't burned with tires in quite a while. They sure will make a roaring hot fire fire. We have a burn ban on now with the dry weather. I like working with rocks, I have seen some nice barbecue grills made with rocks.

That is such a nasty smell much less the thought of what it does to food.

That very cool "stack 'em up as they grow" and get layers of potatoes thing? Yeah...that works well and is a terrific way to increase your harvest while maintaining a small footprint. I haven't done it for many years but it was awesome!


As for landscaping...rock. No question.

I like working with quick-crete and gravel makes great building blocks for several different projects.

I have some monster rocks along the fence row. I didn't know they were there until I cut a bunch of sticker vines down. I thought I would cut the sticker vines down and let the grass grow but boulders stick up so high that they would tear up a lawn mower if I tried to keep it trim. I am thinking either I got to grow some plant that covers wide but low or just paint the boulders. I don't want the sticker vines to come back. I just love working with quick-crete. I am curious if quick-crete comes with fiberglass reinforcement where one doesn't have to use re-barb.

Just my opinion...painted rocks look like crap unless you are talking about paints actual things on them.

I can get great looks from stone by painting them with wood stains. They still look natural, but you can really change the stone up. Just pour your stain into a cheap poison sprayer and go to it. Hell of a lot easier to stain fence that way too.

Yeah. And i got a sprayer, too. The boulders help to keep the dirt from eroding away. Thanks.

I love playing with cement to. Have made dome nice planters. Last year a few heads to plant in. Sure hope to get yo spend time for making more this year.
