Holly And The Italians, Camper Van Beethoven, The Damned, The Cramps, Transvision Vamp, Timbuk 3, Tones On Tail, Bauhaus, Sisters Of Mercy, Danielle Dax, The Lemonheads, The Boomtown Rats, Torch Song, Concrete Blonde, Roky Erickson, Nena, Joy Division, The Dead Milkmen, Violent Femmes, Blake Babies, Sonic Youth....

A lot of my musical tastes came from horror flick soundtracks of the 80's- Fear No Evil, I Was A Teenage Zombie, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, Return Of The Living Dead...

I'm with you on all of those. I'd have to add Alien Sex Fiend, Echo and the Bunnymen, Gerad Mcmann (he did the theme for Lost boys. :heart:

) and probably more I'm not thinking of. Oh and Kraftwerk. Oh how I loved and still love Kraftwerk.

Oh I love Lydia Lunch. Which reminds me (because of similar looks) I totally forgot Sousxie and the Banshees.
Oh and Morrisey should be in there somewhere. Most for songs like. "Girlfriend in A coma" and.. "Pretty Girls Make Graves."

My musical collection is ridiculous and extensive. It's actually worse than my movie collection.

My music and movie collection used to be equal, but I think my movies are winning the battle. I miss records and lasers because you can store more of them.

The first time I heard her name I was visiting a friend in college back in the late 80's and I saw her name written in ink on an elevator wall.

Still buy vinyl from time to time, I even have some 8-track and reel-to-reel.

Some great 80's artists I enjoyed.

Guns N' Roses, 'Til Tuesday, Journey, Whitesnake, Cyndi Lauper, U2, Bruce Springsteen, A Flock of Seagulls, Nena, Asia. Each had several hits that I always find the time to listen to time and again. And to note these are only artist mainly known for their 80's output for the most part (save u2 and Springsteen). Several of them are still putting out stuff, but little of it reaches the fame of their earlier works.

Of course the 80's also contained its share of horrors.

I am looking at you I Wanna Be a Cowboy by Boys Don't Cry & Rock Me Amadeus by Falco.

Lol, The horror's of the 80's are relative. I personally find Guns n Roses one of the worst 80's bands ever.. but, too each their own. Everyone has their own musical opinion.

Soft Cell-'Say Hello, Wave Goodbye',
ABBA-'The Winner Takes It All',
Roxy Music-'Love Is The Drug',
Duran Duran-'Wild Boys',
Spandau Ballet-'Through The Barricades',
George Michael-'A Different Corner',
George Michael-'Praying For Time',
Right Said Fred-'Deeply Dippy'

tho obviously - from my list- totally into hair and to me that really defined the decade along with punkabilia - but I was totally into Annie Lennox & Tears For Fears (for some reason) I think I just fell in love with her voice

and then totally dug Disturbed's remake of Shout

but the reason I think Hair really defined the decade is because of the glam - it crept into everything in the 80s - it wasn't the only rock n roll around (I actually listened to a lot of jazz at the time - and bands like the Eagles & Led Zepplin - but then I have been listening to Led Zepplin since 1970)

but it was the best party music and it was all we heard in the clubs & rockhouses at the time....

True. Some of the most maligned 80's songs ever are actually pretty good in my opinion.

We Built This City by Starship & We Didn't Start The Fire by Joel receive a lot of hate across music lists and polls, and yet I find both songs really good.

The Smiths are a great band. Never did understand the bashing they get in a lot of places. A lot of people I know only know them because of "How Soon Is Now" and its placement everywhere.

I've never heard Pretty Girls Make Graves on the radio here save on Satellite radio. You probably get better stations than I do. :(
