There is no absolute doubt in my mind that Led Zeppelin is one of the best, if not best, band.

the OP made a comment about older and newer bands - older bands are often considered in posts like this because they've stood the test of time - at the same time a lot of newer bands bring something particularly unique to music - an extra "whatever it is, it's GREAT"

for that - looking at impact on newer rock and roll, I'd have to say Rage Against The Machine and Pearl Jam

Older Music - Led Zepplin and Van Halen are the best bands ever produced for SOOOO many reasons....

It is certainly a subjective topic but I would say that Nirvana rank up there for me as well as The Offspring but that's because these bands shaped my childhood I guess haha

The Rolling stones, they have lasted forever and have changed with the times, not that was always a good thing. But given the test of time the songwriting,showmanship, composing and fact that they played blues to counrty to rock to pop is something no other band can say.
