I'd be so nice to find someone or two ^_^ to discuss the genious of Robert Palmer with, or David Bowie, or maybe ... who ever.

Yeah, I'm not a fangirl, but you're the only person I've ever heard bring up Robert Palmer on this website, so you rock, and cheers in your journeys.

What da? 80's to me were Madness, Tears for Fears and a bunch of bands I saw in England slowly make their way over here...

I think of robert palmer as unbiquitous but more 60s or 70s than any other decade - Bowie is defo 70's

the 80s were ACDC VH Def Leppard Cinderella, quiet riot, Poison, all the hair bands

also bands like Steely Dan rolled over from the 70s - just as did Steve Miller & the Eagles. Alan Parsons Project was another pretty big alternative to glam in the 80s

and then ya, punk - Devo, talking heads

I'd say he's more synonymous with the 80's- being part of the band The Power Station and their hit covering "Bang A Gong", and his solo work , most especially because of his music videos for Addicted To Love and Simply Irresistible (featuring the emotionless ladies as his back up band) that was parodied quite a bit back then.
