I will be completely honest here...

THE reason I didn't bother with women my own age IS menopause....seriously.

On a good day...it's tricky to deal with women as it is...You throw menopause into the equation and its like being locked in a dark closet with no light and a freaked out bobcat. The best you can hope for is to make it out alive.

I also had no interest in younger women....Sure,they are fun to look at...But, they got no idea what they want and it's like getting a puppy you gotta train not to pee on the floor.

I prefer my gal....she is experienced in real life, she knows what she does and does not want, she is level headed and ain't roller coastering on biochemical induced mood swings. Her love and smile is consistent. She is my anchor and her maturity makes me be more realistic and practical.

I ain't answering for all the guys....just me.

The question is why men approx 45-52 don't seem to be interested in women their age. And I doubt menopause is the reason. Like Leigh said, when she was going thru menopause, she wasn't interested in dating etc. so I assume women who have problems going thru menopause, wouldn't really be active in the dating scene.
So that sidetrack doesn't shed light on the question. Nor does it explain why younger and older men do show interest while men from the same age group don't or less.

So far I think GYs41 came up with a very good explanation. Question that remains is, now what?
Wait for those men's teenage kids to be adults? Go for a younger/older man?
Shame that the path of men and women rarely seem to have the same pace.

Well, the good thing about asking a question of many and getting several "varying" responses is that it affords you the opportunity to pick the one you like best....Even so, menopause is a pain in the azz and women do go through mood swings (and other unpleasant crap) and I don't blame single guys one bit for choosing to avoid it...If I had been given that choice, I know I would have taken a pass.... laugh

But the thing Is every one is no same or every one heart is no same I like to have girl from 18 to 25 that's what Iam sorry but I like to say i don't like old women's

I am shocked though. There's no specific age for women to hit menopause, like there probably isn't a specific age for men to hit andropause. One of my friends hit menopause at 29, another one at 36! Some women don't get menopausal till they're 56.
Some have a hard time going through menopause, others don't at all.

So all in all it means I'm in deep poopoos if I want someone my own age unbelievable ... I haven't hit menopause yet, might take another 10 years, maybe 2, god knows.
In that case I'm definitely not going to sit around hoping to find a mature man my age. Better off finding myself a young lover to tide me over till I'm also post-menopausal and not a threat to men anymore tongue2

Well, yeah. It's kind of depressing. I'm happy that I look good, everything's still nice and firm, no real effects of gravitational pull so to speak. And now I have to digest the fact that I have to wait to find a mature partner till everything has dropped, got wrinkly and grey? I mean, bluddy ell, what a waste.
I know that sounds shallow, but sorry, I actually feel slightly depressed now. Had hoped to find a nice mature bloke soonish, not having to wait 10 years or so.

any way i've noticed that most of the ladies here are over 40 , and most of the guys are under 40 ... so it's a fact more than a choice

The subject came up in another thread: it seems like men 45- 52 aren't interested in women their own age, 45-52?
I get a lot of interest from men but they're either younger or older than me. I hardly get any interest from men my own age and I'm beginning to wonder why. Are men 45-52 really going through this penopausal phase?

Women in their forties (usually) are at their sexual peak, feel good about themselves, their bodies, life and so on. Basically all the stuff that make younger men like them. But what about men of approx 45-52?
Men approx 38-43 still seem to be full of life, but then they suddenly they seem to disappear of the grid? What the heck happens to them?
Sure I could go for a man some 5-7 years older, but often men that age seem to have lost their zest, the lust for life. (Why???)
I know I'm generalizing here, it's no as black and white as I put it. But the tendency definitely IS true.

Anyone who can shed a light on this?

i am 47 kids grown i have no problem dating someone my age or older or younger but would not start dating untill my children where grown just a moral issue with me they came first before me or anyone else but they are adults now so what i do is my business they are not in the house so it doesnt affect them on a daily basis in other words its my time to have a life lol

Idk why they like younger women. But I prefer yo date men my age regsirdlesd I'm just not attracted to older men.. makes me think of my dad or my teacher or something .. lol I cant imagine being sexually romantic with someone older.

I'm 47 and I'm right in the middle of this age group of men.
1. I've been through menopause with my ex. That which doesn't kill you only makes you stronger.
2. I won't date anyone 10 years older or younger than me.
3. Yes biology does change for man, but that's what diet; exercise; and pharmaceuticals are for.
4. Fact is, for a lot of men in my group, finding yourself single at this age is a pretty big blow. Some of us struggle with depression for years after a divorce. My age group has the highest likelihood of suicide attempts following a divorce than any other group.

I guess menopause affects women differently. As I am going through menopause and don't see any difference, or have any mood swings; just the odd hot flash. I have found trying to deal with a man going through mid-life crisis is very difficult. I feel like they become crazy at that point and are desperately trying to find their youth again. Its like dating a teenager as they seem to revert to being a child again. So, for them finding a younger woman gives them the illusion that they are still young. And people wonder why I gave up trying to find anyone. I wanted an equal in my life; not to be a babysitter. If they have drugs for menopause; why don't they have drugs for mid-life crisis? laugh

Good question....I think they do have replacement hormone therapy in the form of testosterone injections and then there is the mighty blue pill, but those things just make them feel and act younger and hornier!! laugh

Actually, dating a younger woman can make you feel old and dating an older one can make you feel young. It's not quite as simple as that but it's not that easy to keep up with a girl that's half your age and when I had a girlfriend that was older than me I was like her toyboy, which made me feel a bit immature.

not sure where this post is coming from, i never have an opportunity to chat with women my age... most women my age are looking for something else, i guess... but, it is what it is...
