.. back on the farm when I was young boy.. we caught one or two of these salamanders.. I have never seen another one since.... .. I realize they are not rare.. but they must be good hiders.. caught those two and . let them go... but I have never seen another salamander again....

I used to see a lot of frogs as a kid. Now it's pretty rare for us to see them. My dad heard this is largely because of insecticides.

I'm going to be gone for at least a week this time. Going to be helping with a yard sale and selling some of my own stuff.

the slower lizards and some of the other animals like scorpions are gone because of the fire ant problem down here... nasty little bastards

If you want to get rid of fire ants. Get rheas. They love to eat them and it's hard for the fire ants to fight back. They can wipe out a fire ant colony with little trouble.

Probably not. Maybe explore some other areas. But not likely to try to go that high unless we can drive.
