ok i heard on the radio today that they are releasing a music channel specifically for the under 25s what is that about? so we cant listen to that channel if we are older than that? aren't they just alienating at least half of there listeners and i wonder if bands that are a bit older and playing to the masses and stuff might sue them if they play there records on it tell me your views on that one i would like to know unless they are just playing the smurfs or something i cant see this radio channel going down well

unless they are playing children s songs i just think its total cheek who are they to decide what age you have to be to listen to any song they might start playing songs that we know and just call them there own but only for the under 25s

The internet has made the world customizable. You can program onto your smart phone/tablet/whatever device your own news feed, your own twitter followings, your own specific media tastes in podcasts & especially music.

What does this mean? A whole generation of people who know what they like & seek out the same. BUT: a whole generation that will not experience (willfully or not) other tastes, viewpoints in music, politics, fashion, news etc. How will these people be able to rationally administer the world? "If it's not ________ then forget it" it their mantra. This type of personalization can create closed minds, like we are all 5 y.o.'s who won't taste anything on our plates that isn't chicken nuggets LOL!

Back in the 70's I remember hearing (on AM radio to boot) a playlist of songs that included a Country, Rock, Disco, & top ten "pop" songs, all in a row. Dolly Parton, ELO, Sister Sledge & Fleetwood Mac. If I didn't like a particular song so be it, there was another genre coming right up & I got to learn inadvertently all about different kinds of music. No more...

Am sure all radio stations,anywhere in the world,have a target audience,but wouldn't stop any one else outside of stated target audience from tuning in..... Am sure the target music is mostly artists under 25 or slightly above ......Miley,Swift,Jonases,1direction,Bieber,Willow,etc,etc.....?????!!!

it is a new radio station in SCOTLAND/ENGLAND they are just releasing i myself think its a total insult to anyone over 25 but that is just my opinion what do you think? i think its called radio 3

The flip side: at least the country is free enough to handle a new radio station for specific "demographics". In other countries, you either play what the government allows or no station at all - Big Brother is alive & well around the globe & it's scary. So...at least they are free to program music as they wish & you are free to not listen or protest, as you wish. In the west most of this comes down to $$: will their chosen group be able to translate into financial gain for the sponsors/owners of the channel. A lot of 25y.o.'s are still living at home without disposable income of their own so IDK...
