try as one may to keep disparaging people
for daring to not 'have a job',,,, it doesn't
change the fact that people have to be the
BEST candidate,, and whether they aren't
because someone else applying has more
impressive credentials or because they have
a record,, doesn't change the fact that
'having a job' isn't something that is solely
under the control of those seeking work,,
Well....there is that whole "not committing crimes so you have no record" thing......AND the whole "exercising some personal initiative and improving your education and skill set" thing so your own credentials improve.
Those two things ARE under control of "those seeking work'.
good grief!!!
no kidding, but even then it takes some TIME , during which those are still UNEMPLOYED and not able to just 'get a job' despite whether they want one or not
it can be hard to find work Harmony, but there is work. The only people who really have an excuse to be chronically unemployed are the legally disabled AND I don;t mind paying tax to help THEM.
No one is being realistic if they are waiting around for the ideal job. It is also not realistic to expect the chronically unemployed to be officers unless they are trained and have clean back grounds. Someone who can't work because they don't have ID needs to go back to their country and enter legally or get a work permit. Even non drivers can get a state ID for a nominal fee.
We all know what happens. The states are paying some of these folk too much because unemployment is paying more or close to what they'd earn if they worked....so they rent a 2-3 bedroom place, split the rent and live off their checks and maybe some drug money. (I'm not stupid). This would be OK as far as I am concerned EXCEPT that I am paying for it....no it is being EXTORTED from me in the form of taxes that are SO high I can barely afford them myself. And the drugs are illegal ... so the chance of these types of individuals being police? It's not realistic.
I was in that position once where my unemployment was equal to what I earned at a new job (after subtracting out mileage and a clothing allowance). But I took the job.
Certainly there are some who fit your profile of a good community cop. Those folk need go apply....no one is going to "find them a job"....if someone is not working their "job" is to go find one
Either some really do prefer unemployment or they are not keeping their appointments at the local job bank
