Rosie O'Donnell's missing teenage daughter has been found safe and is in police custody, the comedienne tweeted Tuesday night.
Earlier in the day, O'Donnell released a statement saying her 17-year-old daughter, Chelsea, had not been seen since Aug. 11 and appealed for the public's support in finding her.
"Chelsea has been found and is safe in police custody - thank u all for the help and light #missingchildren," O'Donnell tweeted Tuesday night.
No other details were immediately available.
Earlier Tuesday, O'Donnell wrote on her website, "Nyack, New York police authorities have been looking for [Chelsea] in the Rockland County area since Sunday, August 16...She left home with her 6 month old therapy dog named Bear."
She continued, "She was wearing a black sweatshirt hoodie, dark ripped blue jeans, women’s grey converse sneakers and a black backpack. Chelsea has a large tattoo on her right side of a dream catcher with the word ‘Breathe.'"
O'Donnell also wrote that the 17-year-old "stopped taking her medicine and is in need of medical attention." O'Donnell's publicist said in a statement, "Chelsea, like millions of people, lives with mental illness. It has been a difficult road for Chelsea and her family and they just want her back safe."
O'Donnell adopted Chelsea with ex-wife Kelli Carpenter. In March, a woman claiming to be Chelsea's biological mother told the National Enquirer that she was coerced into putting her daughter up for adoption.
The woman claimed her then-husband and biological father of the child forced her into putting up the girl for adoption and that she was in "no condition to sign away my parental rights" due to her drug use.
O'Donnell's publicist fought back saying the adoption was done completely by the books and that O'Donnell has even "encouraged and supported Chelsea's desire to communicate with her birth mother." She added it is "disappointing that Chelsea's birth mother would go public with this personal story without ever having met Rosie."
