The facts are ...

... that the USA didn't purchase the aforementioned islands during the purchase of Alaska.

... the U.S. government has never disputed Russia's claim to those islands.

... those islands are on the Russian side of the US-Russian maritime border that is established by a treaty.

... the aforementioned treaty was ratified during the presidency of George H.W. Bush.

... the claim that President Obama gave those islands to Russia is a hoax.

It is my opinion that some folks are using the aforementioned hoax as an excuse to bash Obama.

Seems that the only ones upset by this are conservatives who aren't in Alaska.

I don't know of anyone outside of Ohio who is upset about Mount Denali getting its real name back.

Actually it was republican lol {I am of neither party} and if these are the islands I am thinking of we really didn't do anything with them. Nor were they really officially claimed. in the presents sense of the word..

The only one of the islands that I am familiar with if we are talking about the same islands, and one that I would have contested would have been wrangell.. No matter what the history of the others were..

It comes down to location of said islands and to be quite honest I don't feel comfortable debating this since I don't know my facts.
Let me get educated a bitbigsmile and then I will weigh in.
I don't like going off half cocked and have wet powdered. I have to clean off.

heh... you said cock and wet... in the same sentence...smokin

Dodo bought up all of that beachfront property years ago. He's looking now in his homeland, the northern Hebei Province of China.

I've been to Alaska several times, once for 2 1/2 months. The only thing the mountain was ever called was Denali.

I went all over the State and saw many things. The oil revenue was dropping which concerned a lot of people. Some Indians were stretching a net across an entire stream to catch every spawning salmon leaving none to breed. Bears were tearing holes in pickup bed covers looking for lunchboxes in Dead Horse. Beavers slapped water at me to go away. There were more Bald Eagles than I knew existed.

Alaska is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Global warming is real but the "solution" proposed by liberals is insane.
