The assault rifles were a .223-caliber DPMS Model A15 and a Smith & Wesson M&P15.
An M&P15 rifle was one of three weapons used by James Eagan Holmes in the 2012 Aurora, Colorado, mass shooting at a movie theater that killed 12 people and injured 70 others.[8][9] The 100-round drum magazine inserted in his rifle jammed partway through the shooting.[10][11]

In California?
i don't know, all it said was a quick 3 day waiting period... as long as they are not automatic, i don't think it matters... but it's not real hard to change the firing pin to make them fully auto...
you need to change more than a Firing-Pin to make it go Full-Auto!!
Actually you need to add parts, which is beyond the capabilities of most!
Black Market would be an easier proposition!
This one was given to retiring Swiss Militia-Men,after it was reworked to Semi-Auto only!
Would take way to much work and know-how plus parts to restore the Full-Auto Capability!
Yep,we kept the full-auto-Version of it at Home, with Ammo during our Service-time!

Same goes for the AR-15,which is the civilian semi-automatic version, of the M16!
But,except for looks,it is far removed from an Assault-Rifle!
