Inferno at 63-story luxury hotel in Dubai near New Year’s Eve fireworks display(PHOTOS, VIDEOS)

Pictures emerge on Twitter showing The Address Downtown Dubai hotel engulfed in flames. The building that hosts the 5-star hotel is 302 meters tall and is located not far from the New Year's Eve fireworks display.
It was not immediately clear what caused the fire, which covered at least 20 stories of the building near the Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest skyscraper, AP reports.    

Burning debris rained down from the building as firetrucks raced to the scene.

"There are no injuries, thank God ... of course, it will not affect the celebration," Major General Rashed al-Matrushi, general director of the Dubai Civil Defence, told the Al Arabiya TV channel.

Social media users have reported panic as people run away from the area around the building.

The fire engulfed the hotel from the outside and has not spread inside, according to Dubai’s media office.

The hotel and residential compound has nearly 200 rooms and over 600 apartments.

Local media say that The Address has been evacuated, and people are being moved out of the Dubai Mall located nearby.

Currently, there are at least four firefighting brigades at the site to deal with the blaze and ensure the safety of the public, according to the Twitter account of the Dubai government’s media office.

The fire broke out as Dubai was preparing to celebrate New Year.

Officials say they plan to go ahead with the festivities, which include three displays beginning at the Burj Khalifa. The skyscraper is decorated with 400,000 LED lights, while the fireworks display will feature 1.6 tons of pyrotechnics.

In February, a massive fire broke out in the Marina Torch, a residential skyscraper at the Dubai Marina. The residents were evacuated and no fatalities were reported in that incident.

it'll be interesting to see if that fire gets hot enough
to melt all that structural steel and concrete and cause
that skyscraper to collapse straight down into its own footprint...

I believe residents in most of the hotels in Dubai are foreigners.

Probably not, there weren't enough plastic explosives used in the building. And there weren't any alien Orbs reported in the area.

Those people got so much money. There not even allowed by law to do manual labor. Wahhh! My luxury hotel burned down.

Some of the bystanders said they heard explosions. But who knows. Maybe someone blowing a safe....

There were some running & screaming while at the fireworks.

Maybe they thought they were under attack.

How long before the USA is some how blamed ?
