New Charlie Hebdo cartoon suggests dead 3-year-old refugee Alan Kurdi would have become sexual attacker

In hindsight, the death of Alan Kurdi, a 3-year-old Syrian refugee who washed up on a Turkish shore after the boat he was in sank, may mark the high point in European public sympathy for refugees. The widespread reports that refugees and migrants were involved in mass sexual assaults in Cologne and other European cities on New Year's Eve could well be its nadir.

Now the French satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo has attempted to marry the two moments, with an image that suggests that if Alan had survived his journey to Europe, he would have become a "groper in Germany."

The image was drawn by Laurent Sourisseau, also known as "Riss," a longtime contributor to the newspaper and its current publishing director. Sourisseau was present when Islamist extremists attacked the publication's offices in January. That attack left 12 people dead; Sourisseau was shot in the shoulder.

Although some recent comments from Sourisseau suggest that he is pushing a less combative agenda for Charlie Hebdo — moving away from images of the prophet Muhammad, for example — the new cartoon shows that the publication is not afraid to cause furor. Unsurprisingly, many have been outraged by the latest image.

It's not mocking so much as exploiting.

People exploit the dead all the time.


What exactly can any "western" country do that doesn't help ISIS recruiters?
Has anyone received any kind of demand from ISIS stating "all we want is peace. If you follow these simple, common sense, steps, we promise not to recruit anymore people, and we'll be nice to everyone. Including infidels, dirty women that don't cover their faces, and bunnies. We will disband and try to make up for any murder and mayhem we happened to have caused."

Was there a huge lull in ISIS recruiting where countries were all "shh shh shh...okay, they're going to sleep, they're calming down, it's almost done, it's almost done, they're getting peaceful, they're negotiating....dammit France! You had to do it didn't you!"

ISIS has its own media company, is all over social media, and has its own magazine. They saturate propaganda all over the place.
Might as well believe a single satirical cartoon from the 2008 election won the presidency for Obama.

No Tom, I simply meant some who were borderline jihad may now have been convinced to join the terror group by this cartoon.
