If Obama has one single ounce of "America" in him, he will allow the American people to nominate the next justice.....by allowing whoever the American people elect the next president to nominate the next justice....
....I wont hold my breath. Btw, that election just got huge....especially if the Senate stalls any Obama appointee.
On a side note...if you wanna buy an AR, i suggest doing it now....
You are mistaken. Delay would mean that the court could not come to any decisions about anything until next year. That would be irresponsible in the extreme.
And "irresponsible in the extreme"? What is irresponsible about letting the American people elect the next person to apppoint the next justice? Dont answer, I already know your ideology.
You don't know anything of the kind. In fact, as usual, you are refusing to read what I actually say, and are simply reacting to my pointing out your and other peoples' errors, by ASSUMING things about me that I never said at all. This is how you COME to be so mistaken about the real world to begin with.
Here is Article 1, section 2, of the ACTUAL Constitution, which the Republicans keep PRETENDING to be following, but which they actually ignore, or even oppose outright:
Section 2.
The President shall be commander in chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the militia of the several states, when called into the actual service of the United States; he may require the opinion, in writing, of the principal officer in each of the executive departments, upon any subject relating to the duties of their respective offices, and he shall have power to grant reprieves and pardons for offenses against the United States, except in cases of impeachment.
He shall have power, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, to make treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, shall appoint ambassadors, other public ministers and consuls, judges of the Supreme Court, and all other officers of the United States, whose appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by law: but the Congress may by law vest the appointment of such inferior officers, as they think proper, in the President alone, in the courts of law, or in the heads of departments.
The President shall have power to fill up all vacancies that may happen during the recess of the Senate, by granting commissions which shall expire at the end of their next session.
Please note that it does NOT say "whoever is President shall wait when there is a vacancy, until their opponents elect someone else, before dealing with the vacancy."
You might notice in an unrelated way, how it also points out how the Republicans lied and attacked the Constitution last year, by interfering directly with the Presidents requirement to make treaties, too.
Anyway.
When you are ready to read what things ACTUALLY SAY, and stop making accusations based on how upset you are with having your errors pointed out, come back and post something factual.
