I wonder, TxsGal, what you will say if I told you that I'm unemployed. Would you still date me or toss me in the trash like "other" women seem to do all the time? How willing are you to live or be friends with a man who can't buy you anything or look after his own needs? Would you allow yourself to give this guy a chance? Would you do everything in your power to help him out (within reason, of course)? Would his level of "happiness" be worth anything to you? For some men, happiness is a job. Happiness can also be having the love of his life stay with him whether or not he has a job. Too often I've concluded women to be hollow when they don't reply to my messages. I assume they don't want me due to my lack of a job or degrees in advanced fields. I might be wrong, but this is my point of view. I can't believe anyone will want me because they don't care about love. They only care about money. Nobody in my position gets a chance. Nobody.

This is my dilemma and I would sorely love to get an answer for this. If you cannot give me an answer, I'll assume that to indicate the "true" you when faced with this. I'll assume that you are one of those who says one thing but isn't really committed to it. Your thoughts? Thank you.

Since you want my opinion specifically here it is..

As far as would I date someone that had no job. That would depend is he looking for a job or sitting around thinking a job is gonna fall in their lap.. In my opinion if a person is on Disability/SS I consider that they more or less have a job for they have a income coming in and they are supporting themselves... If they are just sitting around and not even trying to get a job then no I would not date them.. To me they need to focus on them first...

If they have no job no support and not looking sorry I'm not supporting someone else. Now would I be friends with them that is a total different story friends are friends regardless. But I don't support my friends.. I have a couple of them that are on Disability and I do from time to time ask them out to eat my treat. But they never ask me too pay nor expect it..I do it cause I want to not cause I have too..

As far as a job it does not matter to me what kind of job they have as long as they can support themselves.. For those that really want a job there are fast food places all over.. I have no problem working at a fast food place if I was out of a job.. Went back to waiting tables almost 5 years ago when I was laid off from my job of 13 years.. Just to make ends meet till I found a job within the same type of field..

Actually the question we all answered here was what kind of job would you WANT a partner to have. Not would you date someone without a job?

Honestly one of my pet peeves that will turn me away from any man is whining.. I don't deal with it and will not... If you don't have a job there are a lot of Job Sites one could look at if that don't pan out do what I did start going from place to place till you find someone that will hire you even if it is a fast food place or washing dishes at a Restaurant... No matter how much one may help someone find a job if they are not willing to hit the pavement to find one they will sit and do the ohh me ohh my thing instead thinking it is gonna land in their lap.. News Flash ~~~~it does not happen that way but once in a while.. if one gets lucky..

No Degree there is a thing call a Pell Grant (this is a Government Grant that you do not have to pay back goes off of income) go to any community College and they can help you apply so you can work towards a degree while you work at a job that might not be where you want to be but at least making a living till you get it and can apply towards jobs that a degree is for.

Honestly the last thing I would be thinking about was getting in a relationship if I had no job. Myself I feel that unless one just falls into place at the time people need to work on themselves first and get their life in order.. A relationship is not a happy pill nor does it cure all...

Archeologists work outside a lot and is kind of exciting. The last guy I was dating was a geologist and was involved in a big mining company looking for gold. He was the chief geologist. We were happy. Then the company closed down in the area to move elsewhere. My guy got depressed. I think it was the major reason the relationship ended. I wanted to be with him. He kind of disappeared slowly.
