It does not matter if one lawyer or a thousand say the Mississippi bill is unconstitutional. (Nor the LGBT alphabet soup people). It proves nothing. And isn't worth reading. (We have 8 Supremes who don't agree on everything or perhaps nothing.)
It is SIMPLE: If something is not listed as illegal it is legal.
A perfect example is marriage. Each state determines the legal age for marriage. It also determines if you can or can not marry a first cousin. Unless the state law says it is illegal, then it is illegal to marry a first cousin. So approximately, 25% of states, people can.
It is NOT constitutional or unconstitutional, and neither is the state determining martial age.
The Mississippi bill is not unconstitutional, because they have the right as a state, to preserve what already exists (for them).
If we as a nation voted to make English our official language, would that be unconstitutional? No, because it already exists. And it would be, preserving.
States have (reinforced), their justice system to protect themselves from a Sharia law system. Is that unconstitutional? No, our courts & justice system already exists. And they are preserving it.
Some states have stricter laws to protect animals that others. In some states a cat or dog is a pet. In some states they are livestock. In some states bestiality will get you arrested & fined. In other states it is a felony charge & jail time.
If Mississippi is concerned about men in dresses going into public bathrooms or locker rooms (where there are women & children) to have a 'tea party'... Then they are preserving not only a way of life, but preventing future crimes & protecting the sovereignty of their state.
Because that is what this is REALLY about.. STATE SOVEREIGNTY
Giving that up in the name of anything or for some whiney groups screaming would not only be a shame but unconstitutional.
Here is the actual bill (for those who have been here forever but can't post links).
