I'm not trying to start an argument or defend Hillary, but you are aware that figureheads and celebrities often receive free clothing when they are doing public appearances, right? It's so that the companies who make the clothing get exposure and people talk about them.
I'm not saying I know for sure that's whats happening here, but I'd wager it.
I would agree that given the context of the speech, it was probably in poor taste, but who am I to make that call?
If she was given the clothing while she was a candidate she could be in violation of the "The Federal Election Campaign Act" which not only limits the money that can be given to a candidate it also restricts goods or services.
Also......"Contributions and donations may not be solicited, accepted, or received from, or made directly or indirectly by, foreign nationals who do not have permanent residence in the United States"....and Giorgio Armani is headquartered in Italy.
If she received it as a gift while she was SOS that would also be a violation....federal employees are prohibited from accepting money, goods or services.
This doesn't look good no matter how or when she got the clothing in question.
