When you as a pet lover fall in love with a person who isn't into pets, does it have a negative impact on your romantic feelings towards them?

For eg If your pet doesnt like the person that you are dating, would it discourage you from dating the person?

I don't have pets now.. But, I could not love someone who hates or doesn't like pets. In the past I have seen my pets not like certain people. And they were right ;~) And I broke up with a guy that one of my dogs didn't like. The dog got steak & the psycho got shown the door.

As a pet lover myself he would not have to love pets but he would have to tolerate them. I dated a guy that was indifferent to them and that was fine but I don't think the relationship would get very far if he hated pets.

For me it would be the same. I love my dogs. They aren't going anywhere and I wouldn't want to spend time fighting with someone who doesn't like pets. I wouldn't expect them to feed them , walk them, play with them or give them a bath. I can do all that myself but listening to someone complain about their existence would get old quick.

Pet lovers treat their pets as part of the family, so it is the same thing as having a "child".
You don't ask they "love" your pet but I don't think you'd date someone who doesn't respect the importance your pet is to you.

I'm cool with any 'normal' pets...cats, dogs, etc.....but I'll pass on iquanas, pythons, and the like....

I would never break up with someone if my pet didn't like her.. that's my pets problem. But I don't think I would start a relationship with a woman who did not like animals or pets. I'm not saying she has to like all animals.. but she would have to like animals in general and household type pets.

And at this stage of my life I would prefer to have as many mutual interests as possible. Not having a important one of mine because someone doesn't care for it, would not be attractive to me.

My pets have always been members of my family

Yes it would.. Sass has only disliked 2 ppl in her entire life. And she is 13 now, so if she doesn't like someone I would listen...

And I probably wouldn't date them be friends yes date nope not going there.

They are bonded & loyal.
And they have instincts that we don't.
And senses. (Like police/drug dogs. And service dogs/seizure dogs).

I know my Sheppards, sometimes knew when someone was a drinker or got high before I did.
