I try to add songs from different genres (skewed towards pop/indie/hip hop), also songs that are kind of game changers that influenced music trends. I used to watch those shows on VH1, Best songs of all time, Best of the 90's, etc. Ultimately a song becomes great because of it's relevance for its time, popularity, profoundness, influence on pop culture... and here also because what it just means to each of us.
