Donald Trump said that while he had a "substantive, direct and constructive" meeting with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto, they "didn't discuss" who would pay for the border wall that Trump has made a centerpiece of his presidential campaign.

Trump arrived in Mexico City this afternoon and took the podium for a joint press conference alongside Peña Nieto, noting the "tremendous feeling" he has for Mexican-Americans.

"I was straightforward in presenting my views about the impacts of current trade and immigration policies on the United States" Trump said, noting later that "We are united by our support of Mexicans."

"I have a tremendous feeling for Mexican Americans not only in terms of friendship but also in terms of the numbers I employ... I am proud to say how many people I employ," Trump said.

As far as " Trump tactics", he is saying the same thing, we (Americans), said about Obama. There are many articles, on crowds & the media treating Obama as a Rock Star & he was saying NOTHING. Just phrases, like "It is all about change".... crowd goes wild. Everyone, else says... " Yea, what change?". Well.... NONE, that WE CHOSE.
But... there was A LOT of change

MAYBE... You don't realize, with whatever media, you get... Trump is saying what American TAXPAYERS want to hear. What American TAXPAPERS & LAND OWNERS, think. ... That is his popularity, & that he is an outsider.

So what are you saying, Australia, as strick as your immigration laws are and the few refugees you have taken, & the restrictions you place on that.

Yes it is 33 minutes but I have never seen such a good analyses of Trumps sales technique before so figure it is worth it to gain the education. It also shows some of Hillary's technique as well.

I do understand that he is saying what a lot of people think they want to hear. Along with that I also understand persistence can get you what you think you want, but it is often more about feeling than thinking and the reality is not always as we feel it is and our thinking often only confirms our feelings.
The art of the politician is to harness the feelings of others to serve their purpose. Which is often not exactly what we imagine it to be.

Australia doesnt need to build a wall as it has a natural moat. Which it still needs to patrol.

To be successful Trumps wall will need to be virtual and patrolled more by technology and brain power than physical force.IMO

I certainly don't agree with Australia's immigration policy but I don't advocate open borders at this point in time either.
My philosophy leans more to inclusion than exclusion. While that is not practical as an absolute at this point in time I see no reason why it can't be held as the ideal to aim at evolving towards.

America can feed and house its entire population its just that the system it it has chosen doesn't enable it.
What is true for America in this regard is also true for the rest of the world.
So every now and then we will need to take a break from using all our effort keeping others out and spend some time on working out how we can create a system that will allow more in.

Such resolution will not come from a higher power but from mankind elevating itself. imo

Shockingly, CNN's Chris Cuomo called out Hillary Clinton's VP Tim Kaine for claiming sanctuary cities are a "phantom."

KAINE: When Donald Trump kind of goes after these phantom sanctuary cities and talks about how bad they are, basically what he's going after is police chiefs. And I trust police chiefs in terms of knowing what should be done to keep their communities safer and police departments and mayors a lot more than I trust Donald Trump.

CUOMO: But why do you say phantom? You know that there are places that refuse to cooperate with ICE [Immigrations and Customs Enforcement] and they have their assembly of different reasons for why they do it, but sanctuary cities are real. They exist. They're not phantom. And a lot of people believe that you have those people being rewarded for not working hand in hand with ICE.

Kaine's comments come on the heel of Donald Trump speaking of "Angel Moms" during his immigration speech.

The Angel Moms weren't well received by some "journalists."

Kaine's denial isn't surprising given how hard Harry Reid fought to stop a bill that would defund sanctuary cities.

TED CRUZ: I would note, it is sad that the Democratic leader chooses to stand with violent criminal illegal aliens instead of the American citizens. But even sadder is that he impugns legal immigrants. And for the Democratic leader to cynically suggest that somehow immigrants should be lumped into the same bucket with murderers and rapists demonstrates the cynicism of the modern Democratic party. The Democratic leader suggested that locking up aggravated felons is somehow disrespectful to immigrants. With all respect, as the son of an immigrant, I believe that immigrants that come here legally who aren't criminals should be treated markedly different from murderers and rapists and yet the Democratic Party chooses to stand with the murderers and rapists and violent criminals.

Deportations of undocumented immigrants under President Obama are on track to hit a decade low, according to figures from Immigrations and Customs Enforcement.

ICE data from June suggests the Obama administration will deport 230,000 people by the end of fiscal year 2016, which comes to a close next month. The number falls below the 235,413 illegal immigrants who were removed from the U.S. last year, marking the lowest number since 2006, the Hill reported Wednesday.

Deportations under the Obama administration hit a high in 2012 with 409,849 people removed from the country, according to ICE figures.

Obama had pressed Congress to pass comprehensive immigration reform legislation that would provide undocumented immigrants a path to legal status in the U.S. When that effort stalled, Obama in 2014 declared executive actions that extended legal status for certain undocumented immigrants, including the parents of already protected children.

The Supreme Court in June issued an evenly divided ruling on Obama’s executive immigration actions, blocking his programs from going into effect until the lower court issues a decision. The programs likely will not resume during the remainder of Obama’s presidency.

Still, his administration succeeded in reshaping enforcement qualifications. Upon announcing his 2014 executive actions, Obama said his administration would stop targeting illegal immigrants who have not committed other crimes.

Republicans have blamed Obama’s immigration polices for contributing to the waves of unauthorized Central American immigrants illegally crossing into the U.S.

Donald Trump, who is set to clarify his immigration positions Wednesday night, has cast Obama as negligent in his immigration policies. While he previously vowed to deport all of the roughly 11 million undocumented immigrants currently in the U.S. should he win the presidency, the Republican nominee recently shifted to a policy that appears to closely reflect Obama’s.

Hillary Clinton, meanwhile, broke away from Obama’s immigration policies in March, pledged not to deport any undocumented immigrants excluding violent criminals and terrorists.
