MINNEAPOLIS – A Minnesota man confessed Tuesday to abducting and killing 11-year-old Jacob Wetterling nearly 27 years ago, recounting a crime that long haunted the state in chilling detail that included a handcuffed Jacob asking him: "What did I do wrong?"

Danny Heinrich, 53, of Annandale, made the admission as he pleaded guilty to a federal child pornography charge that will likely keep him locked up for 20 years, with civil commitment possible after that, meaning he could spend the rest of his life in custody.

Asked whether he abducted, sexually assaulted and murdered Jacob, Heinrich said: "Yes, I did."

As part of the plea agreement, Heinrich will not face state murder charges in Jacob's death. U.S. Attorney Andy Luger said it was the only way to get Heinrich, whom he described as a volatile man, to show authorities where they could find the boy's remains.

So, now if a child molester and murder wont face justice for the horrific crimes he committed because he showed Law Enforcement where the body is?!?!?!?!?!?

They said they are charging him with child porn (That they found on his computer while searching his house looking for evidence linking him to Wetterling) which carries up to 20 years in Prison. Still to lenient.

They have also linked him to the kidnapping and molestation of another child prior Wetterling case, which it looks like he wont face charges for either.

This creep is a habitual sex offender and I am sure if they trace it back that they will find more victims. Guys like this cant just stop.

I am disgusted at the District Attorney's Office for letting this slide! That District Attorney needs to be recalled from office!

I am sure they would have figured it out, it sounded like they really had him anyways and I am sure he would have eventually talked.

This guy will be out of prison. The maximum he can get is twenty years and he is only like 50. He will be out there to hurt more kids now thanks to this District Attorney.

This was a capital offense they just screwed up!

I am sure they would have figured it out, it sounded like they really had him anyways and I am sure he would have eventually talked.

This guy will be out of prison. The maximum he can get is twenty years and he is only like 50. He will be out there to hurt more kids now thanks to this District Attorney.

In a way... I hope it was, JUST a screw up.
Because, there seems to be trend in Europe now, of smacking people.. or just the so called refugees... spock on tbe hand, for violent sex crimes.

Examples:

The guy who raped the 6 yr old boy, in the pool, & told police " It was a sex emergency"... ONLY sentenced to SIX years.

The (organized) News Years Eve, rape & aggravated sexual battery cases... ACROSS EUROPE: only a FEW, were found guilty, they recieved MINIMAL FINES & A MAX OF ONE YEAR in prison.

I am sure they would have figured it out, it sounded like they really had him anyways and I am sure he would have eventually talked.

He most likely will not survive in prison. They have their own form of justice in there and they don't take kindly to rapists and people who kill kids.

But I do hope they don't kill him right away... prolong it as long as possible. Give the family of the child something to smile about.


they could buy an inmate a couple of cartons of cigs to make sure that happens...

The courts might not convict him but he will be held accountable for this. I would not doubt that he will not see the outside of prison again...

Might not even make it to a parole hearing in the future...

Yeah, he should have made a better deal IMO. If he showed the location of the boy then he wouldn't have to suffer in jail and instead receive the death penalty ASAP. But, obviously none of us can understand such a fukkd up mind like this guy. So, who knows.

Yes he will. He's 52 and he's facing a maximum of 20 years, that's if the judge doesn't go easy on him and doesn't count good time or parole. This guy will be out in 10-12 years.

You mean a catch 22......... They clearly had some evidence, enough for a search warrant to toss this guys house. That's how they found the child porn.

Still doesn't make it right.....
Seemed to be right enough in the parents eyes. They wanted their son home, they got it....which wouldn't have happened without the plea deal. And the killer gets what will amount to a life sentence more than likely. Plea deals happen everyday. An old case was solved and left those closest to the victim satisfied.

They clearly had some evidence, enough for a search warrant to toss this guys house. That's how they found the child porn.
They CLEARLY had no evidence pointing to where the child was buried. And they weren't going to find that out without the plea deal. Why can't you get that?
