If someone doesn't stand, that is their right under Freedom of speech. It id my right (under the same amendment) to find it disrespectful and speak out. They can think it's just a flag or a piece of cloth or whatever. To me, I give more than 2 craps....that is my right.

Obviously even Kaepernick and others think it's more than just a flag or they wouldn't protest it.

Just as they can protest, I can protest them. I can respest those that to stand, as well.

I believe we can disagree and still be equally American

I don't feel disrespected because someone doesn't pray at the table with me,, as long as they don't spur obsecenities or insults and merely remain quiet , even though I Have reverence for God I don't feel a 'disrespect' if someone doesn't choose to take part in that activity due to their beliefs

IF I spend all day cooking turkey, deviled eggs and potato salad, and a passionate vegan feels its wrong and chooses to just sit there and drink water, I feel no 'disrespect',,,,if they curse me out or insult me,, that's different

same thing with the flag, in my opinion, its something some people revere and some do not,, but that has nothing to do with anything but their choice of customs and what their view of the custom is,,,

so, if no one is actively showing disrespect to a tradition, like doing something that disrupts others participating in it,, I will never give two craps,,,

and that's the great American RIGHT, I'm glad to have

As one who fought for those rights and lost friends who died earning it for them I find it not only unpatriotic but very disrespectful and offensive to me and other service men and women....

Sadly, I hope the idiots enjoy the right to be disrespectful of those who earned it for them is all I can say mad

I was born here, is the first reason

I respect people, not things and places, and I have many loved ones and people in America that I respect is another

I appreciate that I have access to resources like clean water, air, food, and general safety and education is another

I appreciate that I have 'freedoms' like speech and religion that don't cause me to be imprisoned is another

I am used to American culture and haven't been inspired to adapt to the cultures elsewhere,,is another

actually moving to other countries without significant financial assets or resources is not so easy, is another

nearly all of my family and loved ones are here, is another

Got ya, so you love the perks of being a American ( some that you listed above). But you also enjoy slamming it whenever you can.

You demand change, but actually do nothing to make change happen..as stated in a prior post...(you don't have the time)

Btw .. that's called being a arm chair quarterback.

All talk.. no action... and talk is cheap.

LMAO,,,,,unbelievable

NEWSFLASH ! America is not perfect

unless you don't read the mingle politics section 'slamming'

politiicians, americans without the right political stance, and all other sorts of americans every day

I dont 'demand' anything more than any other mingler, I share opinions

my contribution is being a decent person and volunteering if and when I have an opportunity, implying people shouldnt have a say or opinion or expectations unless they have made contributed their time is ridiculously bougeise and classist though , thanx

why hold me to some inquisition anytime I have a 'slam' of something in or about America? why not challenge every other mingler in the thread proclaiming their love for america who ever complains about anything in AMerica on these threads?

at least Im not full of nonsense proclaiming pride and superiority over how much I 'love AMerica' or 'respect a flag', while bashing and disrespecting american HUMANS every single day

I appreciate somethings about America, yes,,,,I dont like other things
making me like EVERY OTHER PERSON HERE

I dont 'love' or 'revere' ideals , customs, traditions or things, I care about humans,, period. I respect the different customs and traditions that others adhere to but you rarely find me being one of those people or begrudging those that do

the way that they often begrudge others who don't

seriously , the tunnelvision of some who overlook everyone elses opinions and gripes to harp on mine is amazing,,,,

...nail on the head..!..RESPECT...there is a lot wrong with the world today and a lot of it is caused by disrespect...regardless of opinions or what is considered our right to do so...disrespect of novelties or songs that represent your country is disgusting...it's not the flag, anthem, or faith that is the problem...it's people that jump in the spotlight who keep stirring the hate pot...kudos to this young man...he won't receive half the attention the multi-millionaire has but he has the spirit a true American ...flowerforyou

You are cordially invited to take your unpatriotic, disrespectful, enjoying life at the expense of others a$$ somewhere else.

Rights and freedom are something earned. Obviously you don't want to put in the work. You'd rather have others do it for you.

Typical liberal

What work sojourn?standing up to recite words with hands over my heart? or are you going to suggest only militarly americans should be able to voice concern or distaste for anything?

Are you gonna go elsewhere because of your dislike of american politicians, or american 'lib's or american policies?

give me a break,,,,

Me? I served. I also vote, volunteer, salute and respect.

It's not about politics or country, it's about the sacrifice and cost of myself and others that allow us to enjoy your rights and pleasures.

You have no idea of respect obviously or you simply don't care because you have no idea or even a clue of what your enjoyment has cost anyone who bought it for you!

It's not even about a flag or a pledge.... it's about the price paid to live under and enjoy what it symbolizes

It's about

and? as asked before, is it only vets that should be able to voice concerns or have expectations in america?

I also vote, I also volunteer, when I can, I dont salute or DISRESPECT

what does reciting someones poem have to do with a vets 'sacrifice'? its a custom,, vets sacrificed long before the pledge was written and were appreciated without a requirement of a 'pledge'

I have plenty of idea of what respect is, thats why you dont find me telling americans to leave if they dont agree with me

revere and see the flag as a reflection of your personal value, thats your perogative

but I hate to think you truly believe that someones appreciation for you or any other vet hangs on the reverence of a flag

if its not about the pledge, than why whinge that someone quietly kneels?
