If I had my way, I would change four things about the political season
The "political season" has been at least the last 2 years.
And that's just kinda the presidential political season.
There are lots of "political seasons" (if you're measuring by what you want to change) with state and local elections.
1. No political ads focused on what someone voted for/against, or who they voted with,,,,
But those are the funniest ones!
2. Mics in the debates will be timed, no one can hear you when you aren't supposed to be speaking, no exception.
But that's what draws viewers to the debates!
Like NASCAR. People want to see the crashes, not watch a circle of steady traffic going a safe speed.
The audience at home could better gauge actual DECEPTION instead of reading about 'lies' later.
I think you have too much faith in lie detectors.
If Hillary got mad/sad/angry/upset/happy, any change in mood, any kind of emotional response that changes someones resting state, at what Trump said, whatever came out of Hillary's mouth in response would be considered a lie, even if it was the truth.
Awww, who am I kidding, bad example...truth never comes out of there!
what are some suggestions you might have to make political elections less about 'selling images' and more about presenting and proving facts,,,,?
Incentivize voters, or otherwise communicate, it's in their best interest to make an attempt to see past the image, then hope for the best.
You try and control the ads? Someone's going to say "there's a big conspiracy to control what you see about a candidate! You can't even get their voting record! What are TPTB hiding?! The Rothschild's are behind it and control the world news!"
You turn off the mics at a debate? "What were they censoring my candidate from saying?! What did they not want us to hear? It's the media controlling image and our minds!"
Lie detectors? "Here's 10 ways to defeat a lie detector! There's a fly on Hillary's face right when she said (x)...so was it a lie? Or did the fly cause it? Flygate!"
No use of the word LIE or LIAR by either candidate? "Why isn't Trump REALLY calling Hillary a liar, even after all the proof?! He's a trojan horse puppet for the democrats! He won't attack his real master! Why isn't Hillary calling Trump a liar? Does this mean she REALLY believes what he says but is toeing the party line? Why hasn't she disavowed what he said by calling him a liar!"
Other than that, does this thread scare anyone else?
I mean inherent in the premise is a need to attempt to control information, control the behavior of others, a complete lack in the abilities of other people.
So at best it's just "I like the idea of controlling information and people...I just want it to be done my way."
...Never really see threads on forums like "what are some resources, methods, or things I can use for myself and to help teach my children to make better voting decisions, to discover facts, to be less affected by the advertising, the image? What are some of the pitfalls and dangers I'll face? Either physically, technically, emotionally, in trying harder?"
Nope.
It's always "here's some ways I think other people should behave, and what other people should do in order to make my life easier and more secure. What are some things you want to force on others?"
