I will give you a list of bands that I am enjoying lately.
RED- I own every album they have released. While they sound a lot like Linkin Park, they have also managed to add more diversity to their music. That said, "Of Beauty and Rage" (their latest) is so good.
NIGHTWISH- If you ask me, this band is the best in the world right now. One of my goals is to see them live because I hear their shows are those rare live experiences that you don't want to miss. "Poet and the Pendulum" and "Storytime" are gems.
BABY METAL- Yes! This is a real group, and unless you know Japanese then you'll need to translate their lyrics. Lead by a trio of three young girls (the youngest is 14 I believe), Baby Metal has taken Japan by storm. "Karate" is an awesome song. Check it out. It will blow your mind at their sound.
Janis Joplin, the quintessential misfit, the first white female blues and rock singer. A total legend, who's tragic life has touched many, and her spirit lives till today. She has influenced many rock singers such as Suzi Quarto, Patty Smith, Melissa Etheridge, Blondie, Pink, Stevie Tyler, Robert Plant.....just to mention a few. She influenced my generation when growing up in the 70'a and 80'A.D. She died in 1970 @ the age of 27.
Janos is my queen. Then I like The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane, then we move a bit forward to Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Animals, Credence, .....Sweet, Status Quo, .....Fleetwood Mac....in the 80's I liked the Talking Heads, Prince, Queen, David Bowie, Eurythmics, ....Enigma....Today I like listening to Pink, Amy Winehouse, Gwen Stefani, and some others, however the music has died, and there is a lot of commercialised rubbish with big names. The odd ones in the time of clubbing: Venga boys, Ace of Base,....they cheered me up with their dance pop anthems. But I prefer the blues, and some jazz BB King, Billie Holiday. Oh there are so many.... , so many I can't think....it's hot in Australia today
Hey Buddy welcome to my cyber home, you mention some of the best in the game. let's talk about it,
Okay first Fleetwood Mac, love the group, I remember seeing them perform on the old tapes of " Saturday Night Special" with Wolf man Jack......they performed right after Elton John......
I like Talking Heads" Once in a lifetime"......MTV era of the 80's.
Oueen" Another bites the dust......r,i,p, Freddy Mercury!
Well Janis Joplin was no doubt one of a kind.....what about Joan Bias.....folks forgot about this unique folk singer. Mini Riperton, & America " A Horse With No Name".......I love that record.
Also remember the lady group Heart, " Magic Man" I still play that on my phone playlist.
I have 3 records LP of Joan Baez, she has an amazing voice, I liked her album that I had singing in Spanish, like guantanamera, also diamonds and rust duet with Bob Dylan, a compilation cd live from the heart - the night they drove old Dixie down. What about The Band, Neil Young songs like heart of gold and old man. The doors my favourite is Indian Summer, moonlight drive, five to one, Alabama song, hyacinth house.....Again, one could go on, remember Melanie Safka and her brand new key. Jimi Hendrix oh what a legend example love hey joe, voodoo child, purple haze. Joe Cocker, Jimmy Winter.........Talking heads I liked a lot of there songs from once in a life time to wild wild life. So many memories. Cheers mate, nice chatting to you
Hey, excuse me on the spelling of Joan Baez I love her work. I also
nominate Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Iggy Pop, The Doors, Twisted Sister, & Van Halen!
Welcome back, I like your nominees, what about Nirvana, Pattie Smythe, Body Count,Kid Rock, Guitar Riffs In Michael Jackson's " Beat It", & Blondie....you agree?
Phish,Grateful Dead. It's one thing to put an album (yes I said album LOL) together in a studio recording worked out tracks, yet it's a whole different matter to go from worked out songs to improvisations without a glitch in front a live audience night after night.
Hey, welcome to my cyber home I see...you a blues man, a little soul, & rock n' roll......good choices especially Bo Diddley. My Blues Favorite B.B. King. " The Thrill Is Gone!...lol"
