I am not bugged by the act of 'political correctness'

I am bugged by the use of the term in general


in my observations, with exceptions of course, it is a type of circular and hypocritical charge against others


basically people tend to abhor political correctness when it is an attempt to not offend OTHERS,,,in other words, these people are OFFENDED that a person is careful not to offend OTHERS

this isnt everyone of course, there are the consistent that whether they or someone else is offended, prefer a person to not reserve words or judgment for fear of offense

these are people that would be just as unaffected that OBama said his kid would look like Treyvon as they were that Trump said he assumed 'some' mexicans were 'decent'


the consistent preference for the 'politically incorrect' doesnt bug me, but the hypocritical preference does


do you use the term? do you use it consistently or hyporitically?

...which one of these choices leans towards sarcastically ..?...I am more like what I see is what is...good/bad ..black/white(as in color hues..not people)..nice/mean...ect...I am offended by vulgarity in entertainment but I have to suck it up...they are expressing themselves ...I could go on but what offends me may not offend others...that's the problem with politically correct in my eyes...everyone is offended by something or not...you can't make everyone happy...sigh...

I believe in basic respect not what the PTB determine is ok.

Depends on what I'm responding to.
Since in common use among certain groups it does have a pejorative connotation it makes it easier to simply use the term as such when the situation seems to warrant it.


IME in face to face real life conversations people try to be "politically correct" as a means to hide their true thoughts and feelings.
Their words say one thing, their body language and/or actions say another.
Sometimes, IME, when it's in response to something I've said it seems to be being used as a means to condescend and establish superiority, with "correctness" meaning "I'm correcting you."

IMO that is why a lot of people abhor political correctness.
In practical everyday use it comes across as a type of lying, or a means of arrogant condescension.


Either if I deem it relevant to what I'm saying.

The main thing that bugs me about it, every time it comes up since about 1995, is that the opponents of PC, have turned being "not politically correct" into their own version of Political Correctness. Just as the Republicans turned American Flag pins into a right wing politically correct and required act (thus completely negating any positive meaning to wearing the pins), they turned saying "I'm against political correctness" has been turned in to a now meaningless chant by the GOP.

I support just having the honesty and gumption to say what you believe in. Don't call it PC or non PC, they are BOTH just a way to deflect your personal responsibility for your acts and beliefs into other people.

.. . Well I believe it was two weeks ago when we went thru this. The topic was idolizing political incorrectness,but political correctness was also brought up if anyone would like to get caught up on things. PC is BS. It is as is said made to make people look better than they may really be, or make them look worse than they really be, and it is constantly changing and almost impossible to keep up with. Here is an example, not a target. They used to call them negros, then they wanted to be called colored, then they wanted to be called blacks, and the latest but probably not last is they want to be called African Americans. While some are PC, others have gone by the road side and are now offensive. Another PC move is the lgbtq and what ever other letters they keep adding. The breakdown lesbian gay bi transgender and queer. Aren't they all gay? But that is too general so they have a breakdown now and we are supposed to figure out who is which, and what is what. And the queer is something that we may still not be allowed to say unless it is acceptable by the queer (someone who may be one of these, or may be uncertain of their orientation)So a big part of PC is to keep track of what is acceptable to everyone else in which it may favor certain groups. Is Asian American too general of a term? When do we start using the term European American? Maybe we should all watch Eddie Murphy Raw or Delirious so we remember a time when we could laugh at others as well as ourselves and not take things so serious or literal.

Just another bear trap cliche used to shut the opposition down for any number of reasons, be it offensive to someone or against/for a certain political or religious agenda.

Its a completely bogus and useless term, much like conspiracy theory and several other cliches designed to shut your opponent up.

It does make a statement however that someone is all butthurt.

People speak the way the speak.
But any government or society or a group trying to control the way people speak or what they speak of, is fascism.

Sometimes it is annoying, sometimes it is just laughable. Especially when people come up with words and phrases to minimize negative or illegal behavior.

Avoid these people, they have sucome to peer pressure and brain washing are are probably incapable of independent thought.

And they were undoubtedly ******** as teenagers, and never matured.

I allow each person to own their own feelings and if they are not comfortable then its up to them to address and not expect others to read their mind or protect them from ideas that they are not comfortable with.. Treating others as immature and not able to process their own feelings is insulting as each person is required to learn how to manage his/her feelings regardless of their emotional interpretation...
