So, when I do find someone special and I finally convince her to come to my place for a relaxing romantic night, I want to be a good host.

Chocolate covered strawberries are easy.
(I have chocolate drops for melting. You can pick them up cheap in Walmart craft section, they even have different colors.)

I need suggestions of finger foods or easy snacks that are not too messy that you ladies might enjoy as a primer to drinks and cuddling.

Imagine you were to arrive after dinner around 6-8 PM. Our plans are to sit and talk for a bit, listen to some quiet music and perhaps watch a movie. We both have intentions of romantic cuddling.

I've seen those mini eclairs in the frozen section at Walmart, do women like stuff like that or is there a more 'perfect' mood food?

What about veggies and veggie dip?
Fruit slices and whipped cream?
What kind of ice cream should I buy?
(I usually buy vanilla and use toppings but my fav is butter pecan)
Are pastries a big no-no?
I always have mini candy bars (I'm diabetic)
Which are the best nuts to stock?
(I have pecans, walnuts, dry roasted peanuts, almonds and pistachios.)
Crackers & Cheese? What kind of crackers? What kind of cheese?

I realize that any woman that is visiting will accept just about anything that is offered but as a host I would like to offer stuff that she will feel is special and will really enjoy.

I can be quite creative with desserts and I am pretty good in the kitchen so intense is okay but it should be something that can be created quickly with little mess.

It also should last at room temp over a few hours.
A 'hit and nibble' type food not a 'chow down' type dish.
It may sit on the coffee table for long periods.
Low crumb anti-guck factor is important as well.

Any suggestions, Ladies?

How about guys? Have you had great success with certain foods over others. What do you recommend?
Thanx

Well, you can either buy everything Walmarts or the deli sells, or you could simply ask the woman what kind of things she fancies. Then you can still choose what you're going to get/make.
And I take it that before you get to that romantic evening you've dated a number of times, so if you pay attention during dates, you can learn a lot about what she likes to eat.

There simply is no default, as it's very personal. What if she's a diabetic too? Or has a nut allergy (no pun intended), or lactose etc.
Maybe she doesn't like nuts at all but would prefer crips.
No one can tell you but the lady in question.
If you do want to have something in stock, go for reasonably neutral and/or common things.

The fruit slices would be a no-go as far as I'm concerned, cos that can get messy. Can ruin clothes, sticks to your fingers etc.

Also consider if you want to turn her into a beached whale? I wouldn't like to get stuffed on a romantic evening with a man. A few things to nibble, fair enough. but I don't like to go home feeling like I put on a stone.

Hmm..well.my lady friend knows I'm a great cook.. I always go to her place and make her a meal.. she's so appreciative of this ..I don't think she would care what I make for her..
She just likes the fact that I do this for her... Like most single women they don't often cook for themselves during the week... they usually make something quick and easy... salad or soup from a can... so a full-blown home cooked meal does not go unnoticed..... and at the end of the meal ..she always lets me know in some way how appreciative she is...wink..

Great suggestions and worthy notations, Thanx

My thoughts are towards grocery shopping.

I am sure that in the courting process I will have her here without that romantic intent a few times at least.

Granted as we get to know each other it will be easier to figure what she likes. If one of the local women I have been conversing with decides a real life meet is needed and wants to see how I live, I really want to be able to show her that I am not a man-focused person.

If she sees snacks that she likes it might work in my favor?

I wrote the topic with a slant to the romantic evening but in all actuality I'm just looking for some tips to increase my chances that she might find my taste in hosting appealing.

After all, if she trusts me enough to come to my place I want to impress her so she will want to come back...get it?

Hahahaha if it is a romantic night that should be reversed lmao~~~laugh laugh laugh

To be honest anytime I have had someone over in a romantic way I just suggest certain things or ask them what they like as far as food.. and find something we both like... by then I already know what they drink if they do...and most likely know some of the foods they like or dislike.... This goes for women/men regardless who is doing the entertaining~~~

But then until I'm comfortable having them at my house we meet in a neutral place that serves stuff we both like, while we are just getting to know each other.
