That wasn't very nice phd. What I found interesting is the pollution from burning tires. Most of the tires today are reclaimed and some are recaped.
Well. . I'm sorry you took offense to what I said...but.. I got my point across it's a dumb idea.. I don't think the o p.. came up with the concept on their own.. it's just a topic..
And yes the tires get chipped up and mixed in with asphalt... they don't just put a whole tire in the hole.. because that would be (((dumb)))..lol..
And in no way am I saying that the
o p....is dumb.. just the concept
your right ...I did not come up with this myself ...
and I don't remember them saying they shredded the tires which would make more since ... some of our pot holes are huge and some of the side rds are crumbling ... so filling the whole with something does make more since ... I would think the tire might melt with the hot paving... and still paving the normal way is a waste of $ water still gets under it and opens it up ... some do say mixed with asphalt...
I just would lilke the wholes filled in a better way + the side of our rds crumble and guess what ... that is over the mountain you go ...crumbling off...

Asphalt is still the tried and true method for filling potholes, but it is hard to work with in the colder states and costly.
But any idea to use recycled material as a filler is a good one, of course if it is feasible
In Jersey and N.Y.C. the roads are mostly paved in asphalt, not concrete like some other states and I noticed that the road surface on newly paved roads now glisten.
I ask one of my brothers about this ( he works for the NYC dept. of transportation) and he said that they now add crushed glass to the mixture. as it adds strength, is less costly then asphalt and it is from recycled material stock
So here we are basically driving right over a tires biggest foe... glass, and all is well.
Someone thought outside the box on this...and most likely were told " that's a pretty stupid idea" at first, but it worked.. hat's off to people who think outside the box

8 years ago she was telling me that and I just looked it up..urban legend..hides hooves and so on..gullible lefties. Your not one are you? Hope this doesn't put a dent in my character.
well they could grind the tires up
mix the tire grindings with the old road they haul away
then take the grindings mix to the holes
mix the grindings again adding in some tar too hold the mix together
then fill the holes with the new mixture
and could also use this mix for base on new roads being built
but hey who would want to recycle all this stuff it might put some union
workers out of work by actually fixing the issue
just a thought but hey what do i know
