How many signs I should have to get a diagnose? Is it 1 or 2 enough or should I have all of them? Couldn't find an answer on the site either.

Folks

As one who dealt with it ( my X) for 18 years, ( and I still do) I can tell you it is a lot more complex then 7 line items.. a lot.

If you have a concern then see or take your loved one to a professional mental heath doctor or clinic

The file.. is reams thick.. you don't get reams thick from 7 line items.

And it can't be diagnosed.. from the web

wanna talk meds.. nah.. you don't ;)

but remember.. they didn't ask for it and did nothing to make it happen.

we don't understand how the mind works.. so how can we possibly fix it when its broke?

good luck

1. Compulsive lying.

Isn't magical thinking common with young children who often enjoy pretending they are fairy princesses, marvel comic hero's.

2. Emotional detachment

Don't children go through a normal emotional detachment; called weening and prepubescent rebellion especially from helicopter parents?

3. More interest in admiring the self than interacting with others

Children pretty much think they are the center of the universe and do parallel play off an on throughout development.

4. Reckless attitude

Children are reckless by nature or they would not put everything in their mouth, jump on the bed, drive to fast eating and texting.

5. Anger(at inability to control)

Two, twelve, or even twenty children have a certain number of tantrums in and out of the home.

6. Manipulation

You have never been a patent if you haven't had to out think the manipulations of a bright, creative, and independence seeking child.

7. Revolving door of friends

Children change friends almost as often as they change developmental stages since few developed at the same pace.

Big time Thumbs Down. Children do not have the capacity to evaluate the mental health of their peers to any significant degree and what is even worse is adults putting adult responsibilities on them.

Especially out of context without professional skills to diagnose a serious psychiatric condition.

This kind of knee jerk parenting is a major reason there is so many children being bullied with name calling, segregation, isolation, clique mentality, and other negative learned behaviors.

I detest these short and sweet answers to psychological issues

The most important thing for the rank and file to pay attention to in this area, is WHY it is that diagnosis of mental disorders is so challenging.

Some would have you believe that because it's difficult to find someone who fits all of the parameters and is easily recognized as "bad," that the whole system of dealing with psychological concerns is fake, or is something to joke about.

Most of the labeled disorders in psychology are NOT rigid and easily recognized, and further, show up more in partial situations than in complete ones.

The biggest danger for individuals and for our society as a group, comes from the challenge that people who are thus defective, DON'T always reveal themselves by showing ALL the key symptoms. Many of the most vile and infamous serial criminals in the world, got away with as much damage to us as they did, because they only revealed their sociopathic nature in narrow ways.

In the end, the key to dealing with the danger, is to look at WHY an individual makes the choices they do. The WHY reveals the distortion in their mind. Laughing all the time isn't the symptom to look at, WHAT is found to be funny, can be. And what circumstances the person allows themselves to indulge in laughter can reveal big concerns.
