I really don't understand why people join sites such as this and don't give ANY information. In a small community such as Northern Ireland I can sort of almost understand the no pic thing, but the rest of the profile should at least give some information, otherwise it's a waste of time. Plus WHY would anyone send nudges, winks, matches, favourites etc to people who live completely out of reach? It's a waste of everyone's time and a complete turnoff.

There can be several different reasons. The profiles are up to members to fill out or not. Just bypass those profiles

I've done that in the past on sites because you cannot check out what it offers you until you register.
It takes forever to fill out all the details and I first wanted to know what it could offer me. So I skipped everything, just registered. If then I decided the site was worthwhile, I'd go back and fill everything out.

You gotta remember that you cannot delete your profile on Mingle, so if ppl do the same, you'll have empty profiles all over the place, and many inactive members.
Many can also be members who did have details, then decided Mingle didn't have much to offer them, and since they can't delete their profile, they remove the details--> empty profile.
And maybe they found love and left. Because you cannot delete your profile, they delete their details --> empty profile.

Question should be: why can't you remove your account? And why aren't they automatically deleted after 1 yr of being inactive?
The site would become much better as a dating-site, but would likely lose 80% of its members, and with that they'd lose sponsors.

the profile should at least give some information, otherwise it's a waste of time

A waste of time for whom?
The reader? How much time exactly does it take to notice a profile has no picture and no information?

The author? No pic, no information, seems like they didn't really waste their time filling that out.

Are you under the assumption people are sitting on their pictureless, informationless profile wondering "gee! Why does no one want to date me, I just don't understand this!"

WHY would anyone send nudges, winks, matches, favourites etc to people who live completely out of reach?

Why ask strangers that live thousands of miles away from you on a general community forum rather than a regional thread, or some random profile of someone close by?

It's a waste of everyone's time

Exactly how much time are you losing?
How focused are you on immediate gratification?

OK. From now on, anyone who writes to me with no photo, I'll delete. That's easy.

i must admit i dont like to put a pic on at first...depends on what you are looking for. I like to get to know someone first and then if i feel there is a connection ill send a pic. You can send a pic when in chat and still keep it private from others..

Appreciate you need to be attracted to someone but if you are looking for a relationship, surely you need both parts to attract. Best to know if they are a decent person first in my view.

If it means you dont get a lot of messages then that is your choice.

Do agree though you should at least tell someone about you in the profile or who will even think about getting in touch...

Maybe it is easier to simulate meeting someone off the street if there is at least a picture. When you meet someone in real life you get to at least see what they look like.

In the case of blank profiles. It might be hard to start a conversation without knowing anything about the person.

This isn't strictly for dating. Many use it for
the forums, friends, activity partners and sex (hence the options giving for the profile and what you are interested in). This is a social site too

Then there are the ones with obvious stolen model or Facebook pictures, who want NSA, but are really phishing for your phone number, email address or Skype, kik , ymessenger id. All of which are first points to steal your information and perpetuate fraud. They work in volume, so if they haven't perved your profile, most likely a scamster.

On Skype "my camera is not working " lmao

Look for lack of personal pronouns...or if their side of the conversation looks scripted. Go off script, if they try to get you back to their prepared dialog... it's a fake. Usually, by repeating the same questions. If they ask for really personal information, fairly quick, they're building a file on you. Useful for perpetuating more fraud.

Use "big words" and common culture and slang, if they do not know (and haven't googled) they will get easily confused.

My favorite:

"I love what you said in your profile, you seem so interesting"

My profile says "I'm Batman. Wouldn't you like to be Batman too?" rofl

When asked where I'm from, "I'm Oregonian " (any state will do) it confuses them. When asked where I lived before... "Gotham" , since they do not have the same cultural references, again they get confused.

The clues are there, if you pay attention.

The void profiles tend to be an alert that it is a scammer. Especially if they don't seem to have a clue what is there.

Lol If profiles are any indication of how many "Native American's" exist then there must be a new "Nation".

So do those of you who have photo less profiles only send messages to other photo less profiles?

Do you think it fair that photo less account users should be able to send messages to fully completed profiles? Being in the position of basically saying "I've seen what you look like and want to know you, now you have earn the right to see what I look like."

Demanding the upper hand is hardly the way to start a friendship. As the saying goes, "fools rush in, where angels fear to tread."

hi funky...I message both sets...unless they state that they do not want to receive them from people without a pic. if they do reply requesting a pic then i provide it in the chat. That allows us to have the same level but also allows me to only share it with who i would like to.

It does mean that i do not receive as many replies, but that is through my choices of having no pic.

Nothing untoward in it and allows people the choice.

And lets be honest...whose to say that the pic you see is the person you chat with...
