I used to, like many people do. I still feel intense fury whenever I hear of any kind of injustice, sometimes to the point where I feel sick, or want to commit violence against people over it.
But I have also learned how very very complicated the world is. I've seen that charging in with guns blazing or with righteous indignation isn't a good idea at all.
One small example, happened in this country a while back. The authorities learned that David Koresh had gone over the edge to the point where many of his followers were suffering various deprivations and abuses. The FBI went in to try to "handle" the situation, and as a result, everyone died. Other similar messes have happened elsewhere.
So no, I wont join in decrying entire countries and alliances and "The West" for the fact that these girls went through, and some still are going through what they have and are, because WE DON'T ACTUALLY KNOW ALL THAT IS OR ISN'T GOING ON THERE, AND WHY.
What could have been done there, after all? The news we had, was always that no one had any idea where the girls were. You can't send a squadron of helicopters full of special forces people to perform a rescue when the rescue place is an entire NATION.
So what did you want done? We tried the old "invade the entire country and put different local people in charge" trick many times now, and it has never worked ANYWHERE. We've got Afghanistan and Iraq still in process, with no sign of a solution, the new administration here in the US appears to want to add Syria and North Korea to the list of "repair projects" that the US is supposed to take on.
While I appreciate the outrage, I can't support the accusations that "if they were barrels of oil we would have acted."
Sorry, but that's an irresponsible and unsupportable accusation.
