I like to drive. I like road trips. It's fun going through little towns I've never been to.

Thats awesome....i chatted to a fellow once whom i asked,,,what do you like to do? He said,,,well, i dont go to movies by myself that would be sad,,,i dont go on drives by myself, that would be boring,,,i dont go out to eat by myself that would be tragic........Strange answer to my question,,,and after me getting the negative, boring, unexiciting vibes ...I answered by saying,,,well i must be sad, boring and tragic as i do all those things by myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sadly I'm at a stage in my life were I'm bored, the best decades have come and gone the 80s and 90s, I decided to go on holiday by myself not far from home about 100miles near the coast in Suffolk England, its great but I just st don't know anyone anymore, so I'm forced to the travel on my own. Loved to meet others WO are struggling with this and the general boredom. I experience, travel is good but twos better them one.

This is my take on what you have said: I have travelled with a buddy, travelled with a couple, travelled with a
girl friend, travelled with a wife & children and I have travelled solo. And what have I learned from this?
Is compromise, I'm not saying it's wrong, it's reality, that is the cost of travelling with more than one. When
you travel solo it all becomes about you and your journey and that is not wrong either. So what you need to
ask yourself is what are you willing to pay?

I always have Trouble.. So I never travel alone right now. I prefer not to, I like to discover new places with someone, male or female. I enjoy the interaction of seeing new wonderment's of a new place.. Or old, because there is always something even there you probably missed seeing the first or 12th time..

I think you misunderstood me, when I used the words cost & pay I wasn't talking about money
Only that you may end up doing things that you other wise wouldn't have done going by yourself
When you travel with others you have to consider their want & needs

In my younger, healthier days I used to do road trips to clear my head. Found a lot of really cool places.

The last time I did a solo road trip (or any road trip for that matter) was a bad experience for me. I got about 250 miles out and was too sick to continue. I eventually made it back home but it was a harsh learning experience. That was around 5 years ago.

Now, its everything I can do to go to the Dr office at 60 miles one way. By the time I get home, I'm spent. I love driving my truck but now it just seems like it beats the hell out of me.

I don't take pain meds. For me to do any significant driving, I'd need a good supply of pain meds in order to make it. Hell, even riding along while someone else drives hurts.

I once went to South Carolina for a burger and shake from Virginia Beach, VA. In the past, 600, 800, 1,000 mile road trips this time of year were common.
I refuse to fly, not cause it scares me (I love it), because of all the crap you gotta put up with. I think I would like a train ride.
Saw a special on TV about an Alaskan Train Tour that looked amazing. I love ships (was in the Navy) but the crap involved with ship tours is nearly as bad as air travel. I've done bus tours, If I never get on a bus for the rest of my life, I'd be happy about it. What a terrible mode of transportation.

Eventually, when I age into Hover-round mode. Would like to have an off-road one with big tires. Hahaha, kidding...
The longer I walk or sit, the more pain I feel.
My road trip days are memories now.

I have traveled to a few countries solo and really enjoyed doing so as I am basically an introvert but with spurts of extroversion as I can easily talk to strangers when I want to. However, I made some net friends before going to each country, so I would have someone at my destination to really get to know and who could show me the sites/teach me the ropes as well as help me if I got into trouble. And oddly enough, most of them are still friends even after 15 years and have come to visit me. I adore traveling alone but have made sure the places I went to were safe for single women.

And all I can say to those who are not sure is JUST DO IT BECAUSE "life is not measured by the number of breaths we take- but by the moments that take our breath away."
