I had Facebook for about two days once. After accepting friends request from every person I ever knew and viewing all that weeks “if you don’t “like” and “share” this post, you’re a monster, topics, I decided my family could continue emailing me their kid and puppy pictures.

I have a book with a face on it. It's called the Necronomicon. Sometimes it tells me to do bad things.

i refuse to join the crowd of sheeple and open a FB account,but that didnt stop them from opening one up in my name,after somebody who had my contact information imported their address book to their site.

THEN,after the site opened a page in my name without my knowledge,or consent,they stated sending out friend requests to people they thought i might know,and i have a very unusual last name,so it just so happens that they sent one out to one of my nieces.

you can imagine my surprise when she told me she sent me a message to my FB page,when i didnt even know that i had one.

when i contacted FB about this,they stated demanding more personal information from me then i would have needed to open a bank account,and refused to do anything about this fraudulent page when i wouldnt give them this highly sensitive personal information.

i actually had to have my attorney send them a 'cease&desist' letter in order for them to take the page down.

so,screw FB!!
i refuse to have anything to do with them,and recommend to everybody else that they dont either,because they are nothing but a data mining company that invades your privacy for personal profit!
not to mention,all the OTHER people who use it to access parts of your life that should remain private.

IMO,if somebody who is one of your friends wants to know something about you,they should ASK you,and if they dont want to go to that trouble,then they evidentally dont WANT to know!!

and,just assuming that other people NEED to know all the details of your private life is no0thing but a form of narcissism.

so,once again..SCREW FB,and everything that it stands for!!!

I used to be on FB, Didn't find any value in it, every creep you avoided in high school, university or wherever tries to friend you ...

nah, not worth it.

I was on FB when it first came out.
I still have an account now.
I stripped away all my friends, removed all my personal data, stopped logging on.

I get 3-5 emails from facebook a day trying to goad me into logging in.
My family knows I don't use FB so they no longer try to contact me with it.
They tell me they get emails from facebook that I want to be their friend.

Facebook is bad.
Facebook is intrusive.
Facebook spams you.

Since I stopped using facebook my inner peace has increased.
I agree with shovelheaddave, facebook is for narcissistic people.
At one time, I had dating apps based on my facebook info.
That was bad too.

I never had an urge to use myspace, twitter, snapchat or any of those "social programs" used to get into your life.
I do use skype but I have it set to private and I only open it if I set it up by email with someone.
I have hangouts, but again, only open it by email invite.
Facebook can kiss my pooper.

I noticed lately a lot of older threads have been resuscitated

facebook sucks


but then, just about everything we do online anymore (if not everything) sucks.

i used to love my technology, now i love/hate my technology...bordering on hate.

nearly everything (if not absolutely everything) we do online is monitored recorded and monitized, with us being the product.
privacy is not private.
buy a device to use as your preferences and needs dictate...turns out that the preferences and needs of the manufacturers and it's partners/business associates come first...
oh, but you're still paying for it. and soon you may be paying even higher premiums for the privilege of having everything you do monitored everywhere you go.

it sounds paranoid, and only a few short years ago that's all it was.
today... it's big business and a sad reality.

I have had one since it started. As a result of being stalked, all my privacy settings are at the highest and I have very few friends. I do subscribe to some inspirational pages and enjoy those.
